Dennis Hastert, the longest-serving Republican Speaker in history, has died at 84. Hastert admitted in federal court to sexually abusing boys he coached as a high school wrestling coach. A federal judge called him a "serial child molester." He was a registered sex offender.

Trump’s past 24 hours of desperation:

— posts Sen. Tom Cotton’s cellphone number and tells people to call him over daylight saving time
— again tries to scam voters with fraudulent promises $5,000 checks to every adult citizen if Republicans win the House and Senate
— says if Democrats win it will be “a 1929 disaster” and an economic depression, essentially admitting he believes his term will lead to a Great Depression
— tells a Mobile, Alabama rally to close their eyes and “pretend I’m on the ballot”
— says he’s giving $100 checks to 20 million seniors

Not so sure Republicans want the Dobbs decision back in the spotlight like this as the Midterms approach…
A screenshot of a CBS News post on X with a black background and white text. At the top left is the CBS News logo and verified account name, “CBS News @CBSNews,” with “X.com” in the upper-right corner.

The post reads: “Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito said the 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case, which overturned Roe v. Wade, required ‘courage’ from all of the justices in the majority.

‘We didn’t know it when we produced the draft that was leaked, but it required courage to go ahead with that because of the implications,’ he said.

He told CBS News’ @JanCBS that he lost friends over the Dobbs decision. And he called physical threats and harassment ‘quite disturbing’ and ‘a danger for the courts.’”

Below the text is a large video still from the CBS News interview showing Justice Samuel Alito seated indoors. He is wearing a dark suit, white shirt, and dark red tie, and appears to be speaking while looking slightly to his left. A small CBS News logo appears in the upper-left corner of the video frame.

GOP Sen. Thom Tillis privately tore into Trump in texts obtained by Politico:
Graphic featuring Donald Trump on the left and Republican Sen. Thom Tillis on the right, with two large iMessage-style text bubbles attributed to Tillis overlaid across the bottom. In the first message, Tillis tells Trump that Trump “NEVER” threatened him with a primary challenge, says Trump may have him confused with other Republicans he has threatened, and adds that if Trump had threatened him directly, he would have told him to “fck yourself” and immediately announced his retirement. He ends, “Save those threats and head games for cowards and fools.” In the second message, Tillis writes, “I still want to help but I don’t take this bullsht from anyone, including you Mr. President,” adding, “Save that sh*t for the cowards who don’t care if you fail. I care if you fail and right now we are failing.”

Paxton is objectively correct. The line on this chart represents the day of Trump’s midterm convention. It was clearly an inflection point that backfired badly on Republicans.
Silver Bulletin chart titled “Are Democrats or Republicans winning the race for Congress?” showing the polling average for the 2026 generic congressional ballot from early 2025 through September 2026. The line begins with a Republican advantage in early 2025, crosses into Democratic territory around spring 2025, and generally rises through 2026, ending at a Democratic advantage of 8.9%. A vertical annotation near the far right marks the Republican Midterm Convention in September 2026. After this line, the Democratic advantage surges.
MeidasTouch@meidastouch.com
🚨 LEAKED AUDIO: Ken Paxton blames Trump for being a drag on Republicans, saying the midterm convention with Trump hurt his poll numbers and those of other Republican candidates.

Trump White House misspells “United” on the official “super intelligence” document with AI executives. Instead of “President of the United States,” it reads: “President of the Unites States.” Nothing says “super intelligence” quite like misspelling the name of the country.
Screenshot of a Truth Social post from Donald J. Trump’s verified @realDonaldTrump account displaying a signed document titled “Joint Commitment on Frontier Responsibilities.” The document outlines voluntary AI safety and oversight commitments for companies developing frontier artificial intelligence models. On the right side are signatures and company labels for leaders including Sundar Pichai of Google, Dario Amodei of Anthropic, Mark Zuckerberg of Meta, Greg Brockman of OpenAI, Elon Musk of xAI, and Jensen Huang of Nvidia. Near the center-right, Donald J. Trump’s large signature appears above the printed title identifying him as president. The title contains a noticeable typo: instead of “President of the United States,” it reads, “President of the Unites States,” misspelling “United” as “Unites.”

Beyond the fact that it’s incredibly illegal and corrupt to use taxpayer dollars to run political ads on television, there’s another problem with re-running old ads like this: the messaging only reminds everyone what a fraud you are.

NEW: Attorneys for CNN/MSNOW ask for emergency court hearing, arguing their journalists are still being denied access to White House 1/
A screenshot of the first page of a federal court filing titled, in bold and underlined text, “REQUEST FOR IMMEDIATE HEARING.” The document is in a case against “Donald J. Trump, et al.”

The filing says that earlier that morning, the court issued a Temporary Restraining Order directing defendants, except President Trump, to “immediately return, reinstate, and restore” White House hard-pass press credentials held by employees of CNN, MS NOW, and POLITICO that were revoked on or around September 18, 2026.

The plaintiffs state that despite the order, journalists from CNN, MS NOW, and POLITICO attempted to enter the White House that morning and were turned away. The filing alleges that Secret Service agents also confiscated hard passes from journalists whose passes had not previously been taken. It specifically says plaintiff Betsy Klein, whose hard pass had been confiscated on September 19, requested its return but was denied and refused access to the White House complex.

The filing emphasizes urgency because CNN is scheduled to serve as the television pool for President Xi Jinping’s visit to the White House that evening. It concludes by stating that plaintiffs’ counsel contacted defense counsel that morning and asked to call the court together, but defense counsel had not responded. Page number “1” appears centered at the bottom.

🚨 BREAKING: A federal judge has ordered the White House to IMMEDIATELY restore the press credentials of CNN, MS NOW, and POLITICO reporters after President Trump barred the outlets from the White House. 1/
Screenshot of page 8 of a September 24, 2026 federal court order signed by U.S. District Judge Timothy J. Kelly. The order grants the plaintiffs’ motion for a temporary restraining order and directs White House officials, excluding President Trump, to immediately restore the “hard pass” press credentials of employees of CNN, MS NOW, and POLITICO that were revoked around September 18, 2026. The temporary restraining order remains in effect for 14 days. The plaintiffs are also ordered to post a $1 bond by October 1, 2026. The page ends with “SO ORDERED,” Judge Kelly’s signature, title, and the date September 24, 2026.
