orthodoxy: church is fun and religious experience should be ecstatic and we put pretty pictures everywhere and this is exactly what it was like 1000 years ago

am I filter bubbled I'm just seeing who I follow and it's wall to wall this shit

130

I want people to talk about research papers and argue about politics and mercilessly harass main characters in a more ecumenical way than current harassment is done but idk it's just not the venue for that yet

490

the actual thing we have to get over (and I realize I am contributing to this) is the only two ways people use bluesky so far is a) talking about bluesky, or b) saying things that depend on no external context whatsoever like "just had lunch"-posting or unfunny 2010 weird twitter style jokes

3100

privilege stack includes how early you were to bluesky

2170

傾国傾城 🥵🥴😵‍💫😖

030

if twitter is hellsite then bsky is valhallasite. we should have team colors and shit

a month ago I was bemoaning having no good older male role models who I could talk to about life and relationships and stuff but somehow I've managed to acquire three different 60-something father figures in seattle

2180

speedrunning the history of twitter, a few months ago it was 2010 "just had lunch" normieposting now it's 2015 "my death threats are woke praxis" silliness. we should be caught up to the present day by eoy

3290

here is a man* who would not take it** anymore*** * woman ** international move logistics *** will continue to take it

1160

same as other right-wing phrases turned into memes like "this is what they took from us" and "we have to go back." it's making fun of the original usage!!

1260

incidentally I feel obligated to point out that "which way western man" is the exact opposite of a dogwhistle because the point is to apply it to trivial or comical referents in a way that mocks the original sentiment

2312

when people are sending death threats in an attempt to influence your policies and roadmap, that's pmf

0120

after however many years of being avowedly non-ideological, I'm looking forward to being accused of carrying water for some particular ideology and being able to reply "actually I'm a confucian" and link to substack posts explaining exactly the kind of confucian I am

0191

I want to slowly plunge my hand into this like a sack of dry beans

it's just that too much of the seed population was miserable leftists. hopefully they'll leave when federation comes or get diluted by new joiners or start going to war with each other soon

monetize by charging to block someone

I remember a month or two ago being disappointed the site was too hugboxxy but now I see we've gone full lord of the flies

4430

nah this is just personality variation, some people (holding utility constant) value things they paid more for because sunk cost and cost to replace etc, others find satisfaction from the deal they got and the uniqueness of the item. I'm the same, I'm very affectionate about my used bikes eg

040

but maybe this is scarcity mindset... I can get new (used) couches if I ever come back to america...

240

the best couches I've ever had since I was a kid and paid 10-20% what I did for new garbage. they literally don't make them like they used to

140

looking like bilbo with the ring at my furniture picture I took to send the used furniture guy I'm hoping to sell to. "after all... why shouldn't I keep it?"

I mean I didn't require them to have yaku to ron/tsumo

020

it's a shame seattle is so boring because it is definitely the most beautiful place I've lived

180

alice maz @maz.bsky.social · 09/07/2023

we played without furiten or yaku but I'm 100% confident we could play the full game next time (if I wasn't moving halfway around the world)

I finally got to play real mahjong with my tiles last night!! it went very well, I successfully taught the game to two new people. also I got a haneman (riichi tanyao pinfu dora three)

a guest brought fruit over last night for mahjong night and I think I'm fruitpilled now. I never respected fruit but I think it's good now

280

it's also true tho that the stuff I think I'm supposed to do (basic tasks) are not what I really am supposed to do (read about a really interesting thing) so maybe this isn't much of a change and I'm just procrastinating with renewed confidence and self-righteousness

1130

I have the classic adhd thing of "performs astounding feats when in crisis mode but can't do basic tasks" but asking myself "what am I supposed to be doing right now" makes the task indisputable and then I just have to not be a bitch and do it

3200

a few weeks ago I saw yud qt and call evil something like "everyone can perfectly choose to follow their objective function by asking themselves 'what am I supposed to be doing right now' but you just don't want to" and I think this is the fix to all my executive dysfunction

2160

every universe has its kwisatz haderach but some are less interesting than others
