The Virginia Department of Education posted annual school performance data this week. Very proud of great progress for many of my hometown Richmond schools. A special shoutout to Holston High in Washington County for its amazing performance.

Coal miners make great sacrifices to keep our nation running. I was glad to host a forum with the National Black Lung Association to discuss how we can better support miners suffering from black lung disease and ensure they have protections in place to protect their safety.

80% of Americans say finding and affording child care is a major problem. This hurts families and our economy. Instead of building ballrooms and starting new wars, we should pass my Child Care for Working Families Act to cap costs and raise wages for providers.

President Trump canceled over $800 million in funding that Congress approved and he signed into law. What was the funding for? Education, housing, small businesses, and health research. He wants ballrooms and arches for himself and cuts for everyone else.

The DCA crash was a preventable tragedy. We can't fix this airspace's safety issues without addressing congestion. That’s why @markwarner.bsky.social and I have a bill to reduce traffic and put the safety of 25 million annual travelers ahead of the convenience of Members of Congress.

On Friday in Abingdon, I met with the Regional Housing Alliance of Appalachia. We talked about how Virginia can benefit from the bipartisan ROAD to Housing Act and what else we can do to support affordable housing. I'll keep fighting so everyone has a safe place to call home.

It was a pleasure to join early childhood educators and advocates in Blacksburg to hear about challenges they face and thank them for their work. We’ve made progress to expand child care, but there’s more to do to lower costs, boost the workforce, and raise wages for providers.

The Trump-Vance Administration thinks AI risks are a hoax. The American people know AI safety measures are needed. Democrats will put appropriate regulation in place.

Could you ever have imagined a President threatening to annihilate another country? At our best, America has been a strong, resolute, reliable neighbor, not a global bully. We need leaders who'll bring us back to that. That isn't Donald Trump.

Donald Trump’s promise of $5,000 checks sounds like a bribe to me. Instead of making promises he won’t keep, he should focus on actually making life more affordable for Americans by ending his stupid tariffs and illegal wars that drive up costs.

I joined my colleagues in urging the Department of Education to reinstate critical guidelines that protect students from discrimination in career and technical education programs. Fair and equitable access to CTE is essential to our students and the strength of our economy.

Donald Trump says he'd "bomb the s--- out of" Oman, a U.S. ally, if it gets in the way of his illegal war with Iran. What an idiotic idea. That’s why I filed a War Powers Resolution to prevent another foolish war.

Last week in Fredericksburg, I held a roundtable on affordable housing and how we can make it easier for Virginians to find a place they can afford to call home. As a former fair housing attorney, I’ll keep fighting to expand access to affordable housing.

Last week in Richmond, @mcclellan.house.gov , @dannyavula.bsky.social, Virginia Health and Human Resources, local leaders, and I discussed how rising costs of gas, groceries, housing, and child care are squeezing families. We're going to keep fighting to lower costs.

Trump promised his war with Iran would be over in days. Six months later: troops killed and injured, billions spent, gas and grocery prices climbing. Congress has declared this war illegal — and I'm working to cut off its funding.

@repvindman.bsky.social man and I had an important discussion with veterans in Stafford yesterday. I was glad to hear that they’re happy with the quality of care they receive from VA physicians and staff, and will keep working with VA leaders to cut wait times and improve access to that care.

North Korea tests ballistic missiles and Trump decides the problem is with ... our ally, South Korea, because it has the sense to avoid joining Trump’s disastrous war with Iran? Kim Jong Un couldn't buy a better deal.

We're facing real outbreaks. Cyclospora, Ebola, measles, screwworm, and more. HHS should be led by science and guided by the doctors and researchers who've spent their careers keeping Americans safe. Instead it's run by a man chasing conspiracy theories.

Todd Blanche says he's working with Trump's team to make Dobbs permanent in every single state. Not in Virginia. We protect women's reproductive freedom here—and anyone who thinks they'll ram this through has another thing coming.

Last year’s Republican budget megabill is devastating rural Virginia. Twelve clinics and hospital services have closed since it passed all in rural communities that can least afford to lose care. This is what happens when your rural health care is gutted to fund tax cuts for billionaires.

I had a great visit to USS Gerald R. Ford today with @markwarner.bsky.social er to thank its sailors for their service during a historic deployment, and the shipbuilders working to maintain the ship. The professionalism and dedication I saw today are why the U.S. Navy is the best in the world.

The Trump-Vance Administration wants performative war in the worst possible way—focusing on optics and flashy videos instead of doing the hard work to keep Americans safe. It's juvenile, embarrassing, and would be comical if it weren't so tragic.

Every kid deserves a high-quality education. But Trump and Secretary McMahon want to dismantle the Department of Education and hand really important services, like special ed programs, to RFK Jr.'s HHS. Our kids, especially those with special needs, deserve better.

Trump would rather keep this key position vacant than allow the DOJ to confirm in writing what the American people overwhelmingly believe: the President shouldn’t be above the law, and we shouldn’t have a $1.8 billion slush fund for those who attacked police officers on Jan. 6.

18 troops have died in the Trump-Vance Administration’s unnecessary, illegal war with Iran. Families have met flag-draped caskets at Dover, only to learn the Administration wants to reclassify those combat deaths to hide the true cost of war. Shameful.

What I thought about during the dignified transfer ceremony when our brave fallen soldiers came home is: Why? Why was this necessary? Five months of war and President Trump STILL can’t answer that question.

Today the INSULIN Act—bipartisan legislation I'm proud to cosponsor—cleared the HELP Committee. It caps insulin at $35/month for privately insured Americans. Now let's get it to the Senate floor and over to the House.

Good news – Virginia just ranked #3 in the nation for business. Even in the face of reckless tariffs, DOGE cuts to our federal workforce, and foolish war with Iran, Virginia stays resilient.

If you're going to order our troops into war, you'd better have a damn good reason. Three servicemembers come home to Dover tomorrow. Their families will ask why. President Trump has no answer.
