Granular synthesis is so much fun. I'm adapting the Granular Philosophy patch for performing at #westernmasselectronics this weekend. Part of it is voice (not sure the lyrics yet) and part of it, I think, will be drawn from an SDR station in the Netherlands, live.

A complex plugdata patch using three granular sources. One is live input, one is reading from a file, and the third is undefined.

The SDR frequency band is on the left, showing some sort of Shephard Tone thing going on. On the right of the screen is a plugdata screen with an Oblique Palette object at the time controlling three little sets of knobs and sliders. The output is going to an envelop follower that is sending its values to output 1 of the Palette.

Behind it is a big yellow oscilloscope that’s showing a complex waveform.

The cover of Standing is a couple of X-rays of foot bones overlaid. I particularly like the fiduciary info on X-rays, so it's featured prominently here. It seems to be a giant L (though perhaps that's some sort of registration mark" and the letters DS.

I have a huge pile of X-ray films at this point. I have some intentions to use them as a signal source but that requires me to build a synth module that is effectively a scanner.

Which, yes, is a project I've begun.

I was trying to understand if molasses is considered a syrup in German (here, it implies maple syrup), and I tied myself in the funniest knot.

I accidentally wrote “dicksaft” on the English side of the translator, which means “syrup” in German. But it translated it as “Schwanzsaft”, which means “dick juice”.

A Mordax Data (the most expensive module I own by far) and a passive mult (which I think was a free pack-in from a Nonlinear Circuits module, so is probably my cheapest)

Hey, alright. Power bus is in place. Gotta get up the courage to plug it in and test voltages. Plus, I did the 5V bus differently this time: I can power Arduinos or whatever out of here now off the pairs of 5V and ground with a little 2-conductor DuPont connector. I doubt I’ll have any in here tho

The power bus now has colored lines running to ±12V, GND, and a separate line for 5V with lots of pin headers if I need them.

Two black vertical Eurorack cases, one of which has only just been begun. It had power plugs and a power distribution board inside so far, but nothing is screwed in place yet.

The power all runs through Neutrik Speakon connectors, chosen for the number of conductors.

You might, but probably don’t, wonder: what about the 5V line for running USB devices like Arduini and stuff? And to that, I say: thanks for reminding me.
