New research shows that orangutans seek out plants with antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties. Based on 20 years of observations, scientists assessed how often the animals ate plants with known medicinal benefits.

Britain’s hazel dormice are getting lighter in spring but fatter in autumn as our climate changes, new research suggests. The study used 30 years of data on the weight of dormice at different times of year. After hibernation, the average weight has declined over time. 1/2

Bull sharks have friends! New research shows that they form social relationships with specific friends. New research shows that engaging in virtual reality (VR) games may enhance motor performance for young people with dyspraxia. The preliminary study found that a home-based immersive VR game, Beatsaber, improved motor coordination in young people with dyspraxia, also known as DCD.

Research shows how jackdaw chicks learn about predators. Recordings of predator calls were played with adult jackdaw alarm calls or contact calls that indicate no danger. Chicks that heard predator sounds and alarm calls learned to fear the predator while those that heard contact calls did not.
