Hospital wards across the country reached unbearable and dangerous temperatures over the summer. As part of a much bigger backlog of repairs for Winchester Hospital, we need to ensure that aircon and temperature regulation is in place to manage infection and keep patients and stafe safe.

Climate change poses an existential threat to British farming. That is what I wrote in October 2025. Since then, we have had droughts, the hottest July on record and the spread of bluetongue virus to new parts of the UK. We cannot bury our heads in the sand - we need urgent action.

What is Bluetongue virus and why is it linked to climate change? As temperatures rise, more climes become hospitable to the midges that spread Bluetongue, meaning it is now in the UK. The best way to combat this is to vaccinate and I am calling on the government to do all they can to source these.
