Dr. Kamal Allabwani, a medical doctor and Syrian democracy activist, was detained for nearly ten years during the Assad regime. When he returned from a trip to the US, where he had conveyed Syrians’ aspirations for freedom and democracy, he was arrested and sent to Adra prison.

Anwar al-Bunni a Syrian human rights lawyer visited Adra Prison hundreds of times before he was arrested in 2006 for signing the Beirut-Damascus Declaration. After his arrest, he witnessed firsthand how Alsheikh used torture, brutality, and humiliation to degrade Adra’s prisoners.
