if it passes, you add it to the pile and make a fuck ton more All of these will be re-checked before we use them by another person

a handful of torches. i’ve got a long way to go

160

Final step is to try to pull the fabric off (and film it badly, in this case) Experienced folks can get 95% success rate or higher. Beginners usually end up pulling the fabric off most of their torches

140

Then we pull the knot as tight as possible and trim it. At this point, it’s almost ready to use

completed torch for fire eating: some fabrics wrapped tightly around a metal rod

120

When it seems long enough, we tie a simple knot

140

then you wrap the edge over the metal rod, and start twisting it around to secure it

130

first, we cut the fabric into thin strips

130

Curious how the torches are made? The process is simple All you need are some metal rods (we use 16 inch insulation stays that we’ve used an angle grinder or dremel to dull), a sharp pair of scissors, and an old t-shirt

supplies for making torches, insulation stays, scissors, and an old t-shirt made of 100% cotton

131

Fire Eating We are proud to be the only Dyke March (that we are aware of) that has eaten fire at every event since we began in 1995. This is an important memorial tradition to commemorate those lost to of affected by violence against our community and we’re proud to carry this tradition forward.

photo of a person fire eating. They are holding the torch straight up and lowering it into their mouth. The flame looks to be a few inches long, but this person is super experienced and we promise it’s not actually scary or dangerous

The Trans Healthcare Shield: The critical next steps:

Build Public Clinics: create public clinics that can provide gender affirming care independent of federal funding threats. State or city run clinics offer stronger legal protection, sovereign immunity, and long-term sustainability. New York is already building this model. Massachusetts should be next.

Fund Providers who refuse to comply: Create an accessible state fund for clinics and providers who are forgoing federal funding to continue providing gender-affirming care.
Independent providers are trying to step up but often lack the resources to scale services or engage in extensive grant development.

Close the gap in data privacy: Limit the ability of insurance companies to sell All-Claims Payer Data, even when "de-identified." Right now, anti-trans and anti-abortion groups are buying data and using it to re-identify and harass providers.
We need shield laws to close the gap on federal misuse and commercial exploitation of health data.

Enforce Anti-discrimination Laws: The Attorney General of Massachusetts must investigate and enforce anti-discrimination law when health care providers deny healthcare based on gender identity. Civil rights must be protected even when politically inconvenient or difficult, or else they are meaningless.

Friends! We’ll see you today for this emergency rally outside Fenway Health. Join us to protest their shameful decision to abandon Trans Youth!

EMRGENCY RALLY

Fenway Community Health Center Join us to protest Fenway's new policy ending all transgender healthcare for those under the age of 19

Friday 10/17/25
1340 Boylston Street
4 - 6 PM

We cannot allow our institutions of health to abandon transgender youth!
Fenway's caving to bureaucratic fear sets a precedent that the
administration's threats are effective and only serves to validate their continued efforts to chip away at the rights of our most vulnerable here in Massachusetts!

We are less than a week away! Grab your masks because the only place to get these awesome new shirts is at the Boston Dyke March Friday the 13th! we’ll have limited quantities in sizes small through 6X!

two BDM committee members sitting in a garden, modeling the 2025 t-shirts, which are black with white and purple text/artwork. The model on the left is wearing a size 3X and straddling a chair with their back to the camera and their arm resting affectionately on the other model’s shoulder; the model on the right is wearing an XL and facing forward with her hand on the other model’s thigh. Detailed descriptions of the designs follow in the next two pictures; mostly what you can tell from this one is that they’re super cool.

a close-up of the front of the Boston Dyke March 2025 t-shirt. Design is purple and white on a black background, and depicts a group of legendary monsters surging towards the viewer, with a full moon behind them. The monsters include: a giant lizard kaiju whose name we are not mentioning, a giant moth kaiju, a harpy, a siren, and in the center front, a gorgon with suggestions of fat rolls and possibly top surgery scars. Text reads “Boston Dyke March” at the top and “1995-2025” at the bottom.

a close-up of the back of the Boston Dyke March 2025 t-shirt. Text is purple and white on a black background, and reads: “All Dykes Celebrated for 30 Years: queer dykes, trans dykes, GNC dykes, bi dykes, ace dykes, Black dykes, brown dykes, Latinx dykes, Asian dykes, Indigenous dykes, diaspora dykes, colonized dykes, immigrant dykes, multilingual dykes, disabled dykes, fat dykes, old dykes, young dykes, parent dyke, kid dykes, poor dykes, homeless dykes, incarcerated dykes, femme dykes, butch dykes, kinky dykes, curious dykes, closeted dykes, sober dykes, addict dykes, mentally ill dykes, religious dykes, rural dykes, urban dykes, monstrous dykes. Be visible! Take up space! Resist! Revolt!”

Boston Dyke March 2025 mask policy, continued: Masking on the Common! (2/4)

On the Common (Boston Dyke March mask policy):
Please mask by the Community Tables, on all walkways, and in the grassy areas in front of the stage.

Outside of these areas, please mask when you cannot social distance.

On the Common (Boston Dyke March mask policy):
Masking in the outlined areas keeps everyone safe!

2025 Boston Dyke March map shows the area surrounding the Parkman Bandstand on Boston Common. An outlined Masking Zone encompasses the bandstand, the circular path around the bandstand where the majority of community tables are located, the main path from the portable toilets to the bandstand where the rest of the community tables are located, and a designated “Chill Zone” between the tennis courts and Flour Bakery. If you need assistance identifying the masking zone when you are onsite at the March, an Info Tent volunteer or any other volunteer in an orange vest will be able to help.
