The Trump Administration stopped accepting new enrollments in the Veterans Affairs Servicing Purchase program, which had helped more than 17,000 veterans and their families avoid foreclosure. Ending this assistance removed a critical lifeline for veterans struggling to keep their homes.

Trump has always sold Americans false promises while putting himself first. He has never made the American people his priority. Shame on him! #Dtomoveforward

Republicans say, “Vote red to save our country.” But look at the red states led by Republicans. Many are struggling with child poverty, high mortality rates, and poor healthcare systems because Republican lawmakers vote against policies that could help address the problem. That does not add up.

When I entered Bolton Colored School I was taught that no individual is above the law. Obviously Donald Trump was taught the opposite.

Today is National Voter Registration Day. If you are not registered to vote, I encourage you to contact one of my district offices or your local Circuit Clerk’s office to learn where and how to register. The deadline to register in Mississippi for the November elections is October 5th.

Everything Trump touches, he destroys. We have seen it time and time again. Put Trump in charge, and working systems become a mess.

Democrats have a proven track record of putting American people first. Under this current administration, too many Americans are suffering while Republicans continue pushing policies that favor the wealthy and well-connected.

When I chaired the Jan 6th Committee, we exposed the truth about the violent attack on our Capitol and held insurrectionists accountable. Trump chose to pardon more than 1,500 of them. Now many have been accused of new crimes. These criminals are still a danger to our society.

These are the stories they don’t tell the new generation. When we do the right thing they try to silence us. Keeping history alive and getting into good trouble is how we move the needle. Be loud, speak up, and be the voice for those who don’t have one.

Head Start provides early education and critical support to hundreds of thousands of children and families across our country, including thousands here in Mississippi. We should strengthen standards for our children, not lower them.

There is always money when Trump wants to fund his own projects. But when it comes to feeding children and making sure families can afford health care, suddenly we’re told there isn’t enough money. That is not a lack of resources. It is a lack of priorities.

The Trump Administration has announced it will end a program that helped keep Medicare Part D prescription drug premiums lower. That decision could mean higher drug plan premiums for many seniors in 2027. Seniors don’t deserve higher costs for medicine they need.

The national average for gas is back at $4 a gallon. Mississippi’s average is about $3.60 a gallon compared to last year. When leaders put politics before people, we all pay the price at the pump.

Forty thousand Mississippians losing food assistance is 40,000 too many. No parent should have to worry about how they'll feed their child, and no family should have to wonder where their next meal will come from. This is the result of the Big Ugly Law.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Rev. Ed King. He taught me at Tougaloo College, but he was more than that — he was my spiritual and political guide. A lot of lives changed because he chose to stand with blacks when so many were against us. His legacy will live on!

If you didn't know before today... history repeats itself. Funny how it's always the parts that divide people, silence voices, and erase progress that seem to make a comeback. Here's a thought... let's expand Black representation instead of eliminating it.

Trump has repeatedly advanced policies that enriched himself and his businesses. Reports of stock trading while serving as President are yet another reminder that we are witnessing the most openly corrupt administration in modern American history.

Let the fact be known, Republicans drew my district in Mississippi, and Republican led legislatures drew many of the districts across the Southern states. The same people calling these districts “gerrymandered” now are the very ones who drew them in the first place. @highlight

Ain’t no fun when the rabbit’s got the gun, that’s what we say in the country. Virginians made their move, backed a new map, and shifted the balance. Power looks different when the people decide to use it.

Trying to depict himself as Jesus Christ is blatant blasphemy and a complete disgrace. It is offensive to people of faith and shows a level of arrogance that should concern every American. But truthfully, I’m not surprised. This kind of erratic, self-serving behavior has been on display for years.

This is Republican governance, reckless, harmful, and out of touch. They don’t fix problems, they create them, then leave everyday people to deal with the damage. Democrats fight to build, they choose to break.
