Recently, 124 Important Shark and Ray Areas (ISRAs) were delineated for the European Atlantic 🦈 This effort had data contributions from 214 researchers, including ETN members! Many of these ISRAs were partially/ompletely supported with telemetry data, underscoring the importance of this information.

Today is International Shark Day! Sharks are over 550 species that come in many shapes and sizes, from the minuscule 20 cm long dwarf lanternshark to the almost 100 times longer whale shark. Amazing! (but not a surprise, which was ruined by their names).

Happy International Angel Shark Day! 🦈 Angel sharks (Squatina spp.) are a group of 24 species found around the world. Adult sizes range from 95 cm to 2.5 meters, yet they can still remain completely invisible if you happen to cross their path. These flat-bodied sharks are masters of camouflage.
