I’ve had writer’s block on this game build for months, lol. Finally built simple mechanics for the boss Carditis so it feels like a real encounter. Watching him launch dice was satisfying! Still need to optimize sprites, clean animations, and tune it, but this boss has real potential.

I experimented with some sprite layering to see if I could make this guys face a different colour than the rest of the body. Technically, it works — there aren’t any major visual glitches — but it does require adding an extra sprite on the same scanline.
