Couldn't believe the words the first 'time' I heard this song - hell people knew this stuff. And I'd pretty much chained myself to a workbench as a prospective Metal Fabricator. Sheesh.

Dire Straits. All over it. Another game changer. Played too often but, Sultans of Swing, man where were these guys hangin' out. Pure magic.

Wow, that's a long way back but earliest memories were the jazz, blues synthesis from both 'Chicago' and 'Blood, Sweat and Tears'. Horns and rich big band sound. They were good listening.

Too many to remember - 'Scarecrow' still holds a special place. 'Human Wheels' likewise, as albums.

I let my one [?] album go when returniung home 10 years ago so I'd have to go with anything that was a hit as a single. The Police were never really a loungeroom LP on the stereo sort of band for my mates.

Not sure where this all went pear-shaped but I wasn't as keen on Led Zeppelin as those in the mosh pit and things have gone too far now. I've also ignored way too many posts - probably means this is why I'm spilling my guts.

Do I go with Jack Bruce? Suzie Q; Tina Weymouth; Paul McCartney. Earlier? Later?

'Funeral for a Friend' played background while we watched footage from our surfing safari [stoned] and I became so deeply locked in I was back in the ocean swimming. Came out of fast enough as the tempo changed. Also loved 'Saturday night's the night I like,' etcetera

Stuck in my mind for decades - a hallway, in my aunt's home, looking towards the front door - 'the paper holds their folded faces to the floor, And every day the paper boy brings more' - speaks to me over and over of nothing arriving yet we wait and we wait.

Yep, 'Don't Stand So Close...' cracked open my awareness as a mature-aged neophyte in my early days teaching

Nostalgia - 'Walking on the Moon'; 'Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic' & 'Can't Stand Losing You'. Solo, really didn't follow him beyond the band so yeah / nah. I'll keep watching posts.

Went a little nutsy for Bob Welch's 'Ebony Eyes' back in the day. Purchased the album as soon as I had money - the follow up not nearly as strong.

I want to slip closer to Britpop's inexcusable late love for Dusty Springfield who challenged the unacceptable beliefs of men, aligned with sexual identity politics.

I was living in a vacuum and surprised when Midnight Oil found my consciousness turning my thinking onto the events of the day - changed my 'take each day as it comes' into 'step by step / forwards preferably' as a public school senior class English teacher. Trust was reborn and now maintained.

Apologies but that means summer, blue skies, warmer and warmer weather, plus the beach. Slow down, children crossing.

Gonna be honest. Spent a little time institutionalised during the 80s but found these between discharges. 'Rock the Casbah', The Clash; 'Echo Beach', Martha and the Muffins & Aussie band Midnight Oil with 'US Forces'.

Probably. I need some more time to go through my memory. Crosby, Stills and Nash won't be far away though. Cream. I start well back. Nah fuck it - 'Cream'. Too many great songs. Early as well.

Same for me who loved the deeper sound of Guess Who. I drifted away from Randy's work after the split.

Yeah, Psycho Killer, has so much to say about where we were up to. Mind, 'Clockwork Orange' kicked it off earlier for me. Then add Cuckoos Nest for almost the box set.

Gilbert O'Sullivan, 'Alone Again [Naturally]. I have a few more from the late sixties. You don't need to know.

I'm a little older so [no images] probably 'Revolver' [Beatles; 'What Were Once Vices' [my first] from the Doobies; 'Aja' Steely Dan & 'On Every Street', Dire Straits and no west coast country rock but close by and a host of others - I've had a few years.

So many. This morning I'm thinking 'Radar Love', Golden Earring only because for a time I was on the road, hours at a stretch in remote country and I could have used it.

Pretty much the same although Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck were in the early mix and then Carlos Santana added weight as well.

He came to my little city in the 70s. I went with companions. Stoned to the back row. What a blow out.

I'm at an age when I remember this to be true and now it's today - 'Yesterday', Lennon/Mcartney; The Beatles.

Atop an earlier Jimusic post I'm going with 'The Sad Cafe'. If the guitar intro doesn't sway you, Henley's vocals nail ears to a slowly unravelling narrative. This is such a reminder of times after my return from Europe - lost and searching as if I'd never travelled.

Awkward. I'm going with the Eagles because America changed gear and the west coast sound became every conversation in my friendship group. They had accomplices of course, but the Eagles had centre stage. I saw them here before the mid-point of the decade. Beautiful.

With you there. The music was also haunting. So exclusively different from Brit pop.

'Born to Run' just says it so brilliantly - 'a death trap / a suicide rap' Fucking Hell 'runaway American Dream', man it doesn't get any closer than that.

This might sound corny but when Mcartney released 'Band on the Run' and the mull wasn't punching our brains out the backs of our heads I loved the way that album 'reprised'. Even better on CD - no flipping in the middle.
