I've been doing a lot of reading trying to know more about our country's history and world history in general because it seems very important right now. I recently inherited a family victrola and I'm not sure if I have my grandparents or great grandparents to thank for adding this to my resources.
A vintage wooden Victrola floor-model phonograph with its lid open, showing the turntable, brass tonearm, and a black record. Inside the lid is the gold “Victrola – Victor Talking Machine Co.” logo. To the left of the turntable, a built-in compartment holds small tins of Victrola phonograph needles.

In the open lower section of the cabinet, a large record album is displayed. The cover is blue and black with a large black-and-white photo of Edward R. Murrow speaking into a microphone in the lower left, and a grid of smaller photos across the top and right, including Dwight D. Eisenhower, Winston Churchill, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the Hindenburg disaster.

The cover text reads:

"I Can Hear It Now..."
By Edward R. Murrow and Fred W. Friendly

1933–1945
A chronicle of the war and the years of crisis, told in the authentic sounds and voices of the men who made this history... narrated by
Edward R. Murrow

The actual voices of
Eisenhower
Churchill
Roosevelt
La Guardia
Willkie
Stalin
Hitler
Al Smith
Chamberlain
Truman
Dewey
MacArthur
Duke of Windsor

Also: D-Day, Hindenburg Explosion, FDR’s Funeral Procession, Lou Gehrig’s Farewell

I love old books and always check them out. Found a 1940 Oxford Book of English Verse with a note calling England’s poetry a gift from “the race which gave these lines to enrich the world.” No slurs, just soft white supremacy passed down in sentiment and legacy.
A hand holding a navy blue hardcover copy of The Oxford Book of English Verse, with the title printed in gold lettering. A small sticky note at the top reads "1940 The Oxford Book of English Verse." In the background, a person in casual clothes is holding another item, and various thrift store items are visible.A handwritten birthday note in cursive ink on the inside cover of a 1940 edition of The Oxford Book of English Verse. It reads:
"Happy Birthday Dad,
You are the epitome of Anglo-Americanism and England is as imperishable as the word within these pages. I'm proud of the race which gave these lines to enrich the world but prouder still of the blood within my veins. 'There'll always be an England' through character like yours.
Your beloved son, Millard
Sept. 2, 1940."
A small sticky note above the page says "1940 The Oxford Book of English Verse."

First hike of the "spring." Though it's still stick season right now. I've never seen this lake so full.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but when you're traveling, just buy your own toilet paper. Your butt hole deserves better than what your hotel or Airbnb has. Also plz enjoy this sunset over Guadalajara.
Panoramic view of Guadalajara, Mexico at sunset, with the city skyline silhouetted against a dramatic sky streaked with vivid orange, pink, and purple clouds. Tall modern buildings rise in the distance, while a large urban park with trees and winding paths spreads across the foreground. The sunset casts a warm glow over the city, creating a vibrant and serene atmosphere.

The sunrises are the best part of deciding to keep Eastern working hours while in Guadalajara.
A stunning sunrise over Guadalajara, Mexico, as seen from a balcony on Avenida Chapultepec. The sky transitions from deep blue at the top to warm orange near the horizon, with soft wisps of clouds. A silhouette of the city's skyline, including modern glass buildings and mid-rise residential towers, is visible against the early morning glow. The streets below are illuminated by streetlights, with light traffic visible.

A breathtaking view of a Guadalajara sunrise from a balcony overlooking Avenida Chapultepec. The sky displays a gradient of colors, from dark blue to a warm orange glow. The city's skyline features a mix of residential and commercial buildings, with some illuminated windows. In the distance, a mountain silhouette adds depth to the scene. The streets below show scattered vehicles and traffic lights, while trees and greenery frame the foreground.

I am part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Anyone using just LGB is not—they ignore the trans people who fought for our rights, the same rights under attack today. The NPS erasing trans people from Stonewall’s history is disgusting. Trans people were there. They fought back. They will not be erased.
A screenshot from the National Park Service (NPS) website about the Stonewall National Monument. The text reads:

"By the time of Stonewall... we had 50 to 60 gay groups in the country. A year later... 1500."

Below, a paragraph explains that before the 1960s, living openly as a lesbian, gay, or bisexual person was illegal and that the Stonewall Uprising on June 28, 1969, was a milestone in the fight for LGB civil rights. The term "transgender" is notably absent from the description and all mentions only state "LGB."

The image includes a photo of people hanging rainbow flags on a black fence, smiling and participating in an event. The caption below the photo reads, “Plan Your Visit” and provides information about the monument’s location in Greenwich Village, New York City.

This one scares me a lot. www.newsnationnow.com/health/healt...
Screenshot of a NewsNation article stating that President Donald Trump has ordered a "blackout" for federal health agencies, banning them from publishing external communication. Agencies such as the CDC, FDA, NIH, and HHS are prohibited from issuing scientific reports, health advisories, or updating their websites.

Writing sarcastic emails is my passion. Nothing fuels me like a snarky email, especially since I constantly resist the urge to do so in professional settings.

If you ever wondered if three 50-70lb dogs and a full grown human can fit on a loveseat, here is your answer.
Three medium to large-sized dogs, ranging from 50 to 70 pounds, cuddle together on a loveseat with their human. The dogs are cozy and layered on top of one another, using a blanket for extra comfort. The loveseat appears tightly packed, but the arrangement works.

IMPORTANT ICE raids are expected to begin. Protect yourself: download Red Card templates at www.ilrc.org/red-cards-ta.... These cards are for anyone, regardless of citizenship, and available in 9 languages. Profiling is likely. Print and share with friends!
A screenshot of a red card template from Immigrant Legal Resource Center is shown

Time will only tell if they're playing to his ego or if TikTok is yet another platform that will cater to Trump and his ilk. The return feels less like a win for free expression and more like a strategic concession. Let's stay critical.
A screenshot of a TikTok welcome back message. The message reads: "Welcome back! Thanks for your patience and support. As a result of President Trump's efforts, TikTok is back in the U.S.! You can continue to create, share, and discover all the things you love on TikTok." At the bottom is a button labeled "Continue."

I really hope people understand this is so much more than just some silly app. TikTok was a place for community, sharing information, grassroots organizing, and so much more. The fact that this ban was bipartisan only highlights this country's ongoing descent into an authoritarian oligarchy.
A screenshot of a TikTok app error message. The message reads: "Sorry, TikTok isn't available right now. A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the U.S. Unfortunately, that means you can't use TikTok for now. We are fortunate that President Trump has indicated that he will work with us on a solution to reinstate TikTok once he takes office. Please stay tuned!" Options at the bottom include "Learn more," "Retry," and "Close app."

A black box with light great text in front of a rainbow gradient background reads: "Queer" saves time explaining myself & I'm tired. "Queer" does a better job at being all-encompassing than a single string of letters of any length. "Queer" is vague. That's good. "Queer" doesn't insist on hard lines between categories. "Queer" means weird- we know & we revel in it.

Backing up my data from Meta is progressing. I should be done tonight or tomorrow and then will remove my presence from their platforms. Please enjoy the first photo ever uploaded to my Facebook. ~17 years old, taken on a webcam. Note the massive stereo behind me too.
A young David looks at the camera wearing a plaid button down with a blue T-shirt and a puka shell necklace. The room is poorly lit but a large stereo, a closet and a window can be seen in the background.

Please enjoy Uranus and Jupiter trying to death glare me out of bed.
A husky mix dog stares into the camera with a sleepy vizsla laying on his butt, also staring into the camera. The dogs are laying in a bed with blankets around and there is another dog turned away sleeping with a navy blue wall behind him.
