With the rains constantly coming through we have had nonstop plant growth at this historically dry space. Plenty of invasive removal to continue today which we did along with Kimeona sharing cultural knowledge on stone weaving. 010
808 Cleanups @808cleanups.bsky.social · 02/10/2026A little rain today and it turned out to be a beautiful day nonetheless. Mahalo to our crew who hit all targets today in multiple spaces. Buffel grass stood no chance today! More to do of course. Mahalo nui kakou! 010
808 Cleanups @808cleanups.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Happy Wednesday and Big Mahalo to today's stellar stewards! A great afternoon closing out September. 808 Cleanups @808cleanups.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Expected a bit more tree damage following the wind events but the area faired well. We continued to push into the outplanting areas, removing the guinea grass and other weeds. Great to see the natives thriving! We also cut down a large area of California grass that was growing... 000
808 Cleanups @808cleanups.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Quite a windy day but fortunately no rain. We were stoked to be joined by the Kaiser Highschool Just Serve Club as well as returning volunteers. 808 Cleanups @808cleanups.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Mahalo nui to our team today. Congratulations to our mentor, Talia, who recently was awarded as the Employee of the 2nd Quarter with Honolulu Parks and Recreation Department. 808 Cleanups @808cleanups.bsky.social · 23/09/2026Big Mahalo to today's stellar stewards! We took time to walk the area and discuss native plants. 808 Cleanups @808cleanups.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Mahalo to our awesome team for the great work in Waimānalo today. The recent storm events really did some damage to this site as well, bringing down two kiawe trees. We spent the day cutting those fallen branches and stacking them up in another area. 010
808 Cleanups @808cleanups.bsky.social · 21/09/2026A wonderful afternoon for learning and relationships. We started with a little cultural history of the area and a few cultural names, bridging any gaps of knowing and welcoming all to aspire towards better understanding of the place we call home and or visit. 020

808 Cleanups @808cleanups.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Mahalo to our incredible team for making it out today. Light rain and a good wind made it a nice day for invasive species removal. We also got to look around the site and kilo all the things happening through they many environmental events. Lots of life for sure. Stay safe everyone. 000
808 Cleanups @808cleanups.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Happy Wednesday, Team! Some surprise light showers greeted us midway through our cleanup. Every bit helps our native plants thrive while also providing more work opportunities to remove invasive plants. Continuous efforts on both ends of this beach in both rubbish and invasives removals. 000
808 Cleanups @808cleanups.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Big Mahalo to today's stellar stewards! Always a pleasure to introduce first timers to the work and discuss plants and progress. We worked on a particular patch, carefully uprooting invasive buffelgrass and working around the many native plants. 020

The surf was still huge out here and thankfully no damage from the storm. The native plants are loving the extra rain from the storms and the invasives are getting beat up by wind driven salt spray. 030
808 Cleanups @808cleanups.bsky.social · 08/09/2026Well, hold on everyone as Hurricane Lowell comes through. We were able to get some work done before the rain came through in waves. We found shelter briefly under what was left of the large kiawe tree, but its overhanging branches are most likely going to snap in this wind event. 001
808 Cleanups @808cleanups.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Mahalo nui to this awesome team for spending this sunday afternoon with us at Queen Liliʻuokalani Botanical Garden. 808 Cleanups @808cleanups.bsky.social · 24/08/2026First time back since Hurricane Lālā and wow what power the water has!
