Cryptic Species @6impossiblethings.bsky.social · 17/04/2026After the initial rush, blocks of Bluesky's new AI (attie. ai) have really fallen off. Wouldn't it be nice to take away Vance's position as #1 most blocked? Then he can be #2 in every way. 110

Cryptic Species @6impossiblethings.bsky.social · 11/04/2026So, #baseball fans, what about ABS, now it's been a couple weeks? I read umps are being overturned about 55%, calls I've seen, literally 1/2 the ball in the strike zone. IMO, it's a game for humans, not computers. Umps are already 93% accurate. I was also bummed when lights came to Wrigley. 120
Cryptic Species @6impossiblethings.bsky.social · 09/04/2026For those who say that the problem with #baseball is that "nothing happens," I invite you to consider this "cheat sheet." There are many notation systems, but pretty much all track these same things. Whole lot goin' on. 020
Cryptic Species @6impossiblethings.bsky.social · 28/02/2026If you want to doomsay, ok, but I'll offer two bits of info if you want hope. NSF and NIH have missions and programs that are nearly exclusive of the other, a valuable bulkhead that has impeded work in the past. Dynamic systems don't just break when hit. As an example: 000

Cryptic Species @6impossiblethings.bsky.social · 17/09/2025Don't buy what Newsom is selling. Only 1/3 of Prop 1 funding is permanent housing, divided btw vets and non-vets. Rest to behavioral health. Seems good, but evidence supports a housing first model for ending homelessness. CA will blow thru the funds and Newsom can do what he does best. 010

Cryptic Species @6impossiblethings.bsky.social · 03/08/2025You can also look to steel tariffs in the 70s. Short-term, seemed like a positive move. Long-term it was a big factor in the devastation caused by inflation, job loss, and higher prices. This is all that's left of the steel mills in Pittsburgh, where I grew up. 200
