Technically, he’s been a YouTuber for 7 years. We should really cut him some slack. If he can’t scrub his LinkedIn of all references to his alma matar in an effort to obfuscate a missing semester and enrich himself off a progressive viewership, then how do you propose he atone this?

I feel like I’m going crazy with all the positive responses. None of us know Jacob Geller as a person, only an Internet personality. I have no idea if the person who existed in 2016 is actually reformed, but I do know he lied by omission about his past for a decade. He doesn’t deserve my sympathy.

Just a minor correction: the book is called “The Most Dangerous Games” (stupidly, in my opinion. The word “game” in the original title its referencing is a pun, which is lost when you pluralize it.)

What was the song? I used to fall asleep listening to “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” on repeat (the song, not the album) and had it as my most listened to track on Last.fm for a long time.

I think internet opinions tend to run big in either direction since that’s what gets attention. Personally, I think Sunshine is one of the weaker mainline Mario games, but it’s a series whose best often rank as some of the best games ever made. On its own merits, I think it’s fine.

“The problem is that the score is biased towards people who actually watched it.”

There are a lot of distinct, important versions of it too aside from its development. I think it would make a great series.

Its message is why it doesn’t hold up. The movie spends its runtime defending the status quo—don‘t be a nazi, sure, but also, don’t actually care about anything either.

That initial pressing of “Together” came with a 45 of Outrageous Cherry covers, so that album has a special place in my heart for introducing me to that band. Agree about “Brill Bruisers“ and “Whiteout Conditions.”

There was a time when I would have listed them as one of my favorite bands. I think ”Challengers“ was when my feelings started to chang. I’ve liked albums they’ve done since, but none with the intensity of those first three.

Pack it in y’all. It’s down to a 92. In all seriousness, congrats on the warm reception. Can’t wait to check it out 😎.

Just a slight note, population includes non tax payers such as children. Even with them removed, it would still be under $1 per tax payer anually. In a state with some of the wealthiest people in the country.

As a music nerd who grew up in the 90s, I can confirm we did exist. I thought that part of the review didn’t land. Both the internet and record guides existed in the 90s and I definitely knew who Joy Division was when I was a teen.

I think for me, it’s subscription fatigue. As ad revenue has dried up, more businesses and creators have moved to a subscription model that—even when they don’t cost that much individually—tend to add up In the aggregate.

I have a 360 that I bought after spending a decade pining for one. Can confirm it’s a great guitar.

(I didn‘t actually look it up, but I’ve always assumed that Lords of Acid is a reference to Acid House but I admit I could be wrong on this)

This probably makes me a curmudgeon, but so much of MK is tied to the mid 90s for me that I’m a little surprised that it’s remained so popular. The theme is a good example—it was written by a side project of Lords of Acid, a band whose name is referencing a genre from like 40 years ago.

Solid picks all around. For future consideration, my recommendations for albums that havent been bumped up yet are At The Drive-In “Relationship of Command,” Galaxie 500 “On Fire,” The Magnetic Fields “69 Love Songs” and Elliott Smith’s “Either/Or“ and “XO.”

I don’t really care about wireless charging personally, but I think most people charge overnight so not being able use the phone isn’t really a big deal.

As others have said, I think the lack of a headphone jack is a big part of it. I hear people watching videos on their phones in public a lot more too. But hey, Apple gets to save like 5 cents on every $1,000 phone that they sell now.

He also refers to it as a “multiplayer sequel“ which to me means co-op since both SF and SFII allow for competitive play.

5quare @5quar3.bsky.social · 24/02/2026
It’s gotta be Final Fight. The game that would release as SFII started its development in 1989. I’m not sure when Final Fight’s name was changed, but I get the sense it was pretty late since the change happened due to arcade operator feedback.

If you’re talking about the one based on the origibal movie, I always thought the core idea of it was a good one. It’s a shame that no other Ghostbusters games tried to expand on it and make it work.

Unless I’m missing something, it would be very easy to signal out who illegally circumvented the speed limiter since they‘d be the one person on the road going faster than everyone else.

Isn’t the actual serious answer that Ms Rachel has a background in child education? It’s not the biggest problem in this moment, but it really gets to me how people will angrily observe something they don’t understand but won’t have the curiosity to seek out the answer.

“Hackers” is near the top of my list of movies that I started out ironically liking but now legitimately like. Banger soundtrack.

Our school network blocked internet access to p2p software but not torrenting. I used to have my computer running basically 24/7 with the software running.

They weren’t long-running shows, but I thought the “Freaks and Geeks” and “Spaced” finales were perfect.

Gibbs seemed less like that in Revenge of the Nerds. I wonder if Raising Arizona inspired the look.

Negative. It’s Ogre from Revenge of the Nerds (the actor’s name is Donald Gibb.)

So I looked back at Spotify after writing this. I didn’t realize Spotify‘s app had updated in the couple years since I stopped using it. Tidal and Spotifly do look pretty different now, though personally I still prefer Tidal’s look.

5quare @5quar3.bsky.social · 10/12/2025
That confused me too. I ditched Spotify and tried out the others before sticking with Tidal. For better or for worse, Tidal’s app is basically the same as Spotify’s but with a different color scheme and less bloat. Also, I love that Tidal—a music app—uses their video section for music videos.

Not to defend it, but I‘d also like to point out that game keycards aren’t the same as download codes. You can still loan them out and sell them, they just don’t have the actual game data on the card.

Sorry, I wasn’t trying to call you out specifically, but I think it came off that way. I’m not aware of any other missing gags personally.

5quare @5quar3.bsky.social · 02/12/2025
Basically. It bothers me when people frame these discussions around missing gags/revealing mistakes because it’s beside the point. The Simpsons is a 35-year-old show and it was framed for a 4:3 aspect ratio. I understand that not everyone cares, but every widescreen TV I’ve used has a zoom button.

Similarly, if you had scenes set in multiple locations, you shoot all your scenes in each location regardless of where the locations appear in the story to minimize travel.
120
5quare @5quar3.bsky.social · 24/11/2025
They’re usually shot out of order to minimize expenses and to work around availability. For example, if you have a character who only appears on a handful of scenes, you would want to shoot that person‘s scenes all at once rather than bring them back weeks later.

I can’t speak to that specific model, but I started out with a similar Sony turntable that I eventually sold. Personally, I think it’s important to look for a turntable that offers more adjustablity with the tonearm. Audio Technica makes a starter model for about $200 that I’d recommend.

What confounds me about the purchase is why anyone would want to buy them in the first place. I love SNK (or used to anyway), but I’ve always seen them as being a cult favorite.

After searching around, one thing I saw brought up was increased customer preference for drive thrus over inside dining, which is something I hadn’t considered. There’s also a whole Snopes article about whether the Wendys salad bar existed, as though were discuss Nessie.

I always assumed the profit margins on buffets are lower since the food needs to be replenished frequently and can only sit out for so long before they have to be thrown away. They are indeed disgusting and unhygienic too though.

I haven’t looked into this, but the moon itself could also be causing light pollution which is why stars aren‘t visible on Earth from the bright parts such as cities.
000
5quare @5quar3.bsky.social · 31/10/2025
To include the stars, the photographer would have needed to expose the film longer which would have caused the foreground to become overexposed and washed out.
100
5quare @5quar3.bsky.social · 31/10/2025
To expand slightly in case you’re not familiar with photography, the exposure time (how long the camera lets light in) depends on both the size of the aperture and how long light is let in. The moon is in the foreground so the camera needs less exposure time to photograph it.
