6 Finally our friend N nominated her incredible friend Jamie who, after spending much of his own childhood in hospitals, dedicated his life to setting up wonderful Ward Buddies, a charity that trains volunteers, with expert support, to befriend babies and children and keep them company in hospital

5 S has a friend who is struggling after a difficult Christmas which has brought up a lot of trauma. She is a survivor of childhood abuse who is living with complex PTSD and other challenges, and everything has come to a head in recent weeks.

They are trying to work out how to make this new (very welcome) situation work, by creating a divide to make one bedroom into two- but they have limited resources (pension and benefits) and can’t afford the work.

4 C messaged us about M who lost his job as a chef after undergoing cancer treatment, which subsequently left him with additional health issues. He has been living with his 81 year old mum in a two bed council flat, but has very recently won custody of his 9 year old.

3 M and her children are being supported by one of our members working with a domestic abuse charity. After fleeing an abusive relationship many months ago they have been living with family miles away. They have now finally been given a council property closer to their support networks,

1 E got in touch to ask for help for a friend who was buying some decorations for the wake of a young mum; her hope being to create a lovely and fitting celebration of her life for her children to remember. Just a small amount that helped her make this lovely gesture.

5 D was served an eviction notice by his letting agency but the documentation was incorrect and he has endured many months of uncertainty, before successfully finding a new council bungalow.

who has dedicated his life to saving stray and unwanted dogs and finding homes for them, in his own time, and in his own van, driving hundreds of miles. He raises money to fund the travelling involved, and we are happy to support him as he does his work.

A has asked if we can help him by enabling him to take himself off for a couple of days to recover from the trauma, while his flat gets cleaned up, and in recognition of his bravery.

and dragging his neighbour out on a rug. The tenant is recovering in hospital now, but Gary has been left extremely shaken and with substantial smoke damage to his own home. He had no insurance and although the HA are working to replace lost items and clean the carpets throughout.

1 A, one of our members who supports housing association tenants, wrote to us about a terrible house fire- the worst she has seen in 22 years. Her tenant was heroically rescued by Gary in the flat above who put his own life and health at risk by entering the flat

5 L wrote us a very moving email about her friend, who has had an incredibly difficult time- driven out of his job by bullying, sparking an expensive and unsuccessful lawsuit that left him in debt, much borrowing from friends and family, and all the

4 G works at a college, and has approached us about a young woman he teaches, who, on top of her studies, works nights to support her family, after her dad and brother passed away. She did loads of overtime over Christmas to try and get a bit ahead financially, but then fell ill,

3 Our member S lost her friend last week, after a long battle with alcohol dependency and depression. He experienced many obstacles in his life. He has practically no family, and who there is live a long way away. His heartbroken friends are trying to raise enough to give him a proper funeral.

2 B nominated a fantastic organisation, The Bus Stop in Ipswich, who work on the ground with people experiencing homelessness and poverty, providing shelter, food and a referral-free food bank for its users. They are struggling to meet demand at the moment and are in danger of folding completely,

Unfortunately this leaves him with less than £300 a month to live on, and his quality of life is very poor. His nominator has asked that we provide funds for a new cooker and sofa, and also to stock his freezer in readiness for the weeks ahead.

He became very depressed and agoraphobic and during this time fell into rental arrears too, and made several attempts on his life. Through the team at his HA, he is now getting support and advice, and they are negotiating with various utility providers and have worked out a payment plan.

Mr W had been exploited by his partner of many years, unbeknownst to him. She walked out on him last year leaving him with eye-watering debts for unpaid bills- he gave her the money each month to pay, but she was keeping it.
