Learning is not just knowledge acquisition, but also learning about learning & yourself. The portfolio makes that learning visible & encourages you to document & reflect on it. @profcathyelliott.bsky.social has that baked into her classes & assessment criteria. podcast.mahara.org/2018360/epis...

How can you incorporate relational marking or other ungrading methods into your classroom? @profcathyelliott.bsky.social from UCL says it's through unlearning established patterns. Listen to Cathy's full interview on our podcast 'Create. Share. Engage.' podcast.mahara.org/2018360/epis...

Inviting others to view a student's portfolio is an integral part of the portfolio practice of @profcathyelliott.bsky.social Students need to understand the assessment criteria to give constructive feedback. Listen to her full interview on 'Create. Share. Engage.' podcast.mahara.org/2018360/epis...

@profcathyelliott.bsky.social practices relational marking where the portfolio is centre stage. Students create their portfolio, reflect on their learning, and discuss the assessment criteria because these can be changed in conversation. Listen to her interview. podcast.mahara.org/2018360/epis...

Relational marking focuses on the student's entire learning journey in a course rather than a one-time assessment, says @profcathyelliott.bsky.social from UCL. That's why the portfolio is a perfect fit for that form of ungrading. podcast.mahara.org/2018360/epis...

@profcathyelliott.bsky.social shares why portfolios are well suited for relational marking. Portfolios help students reap enormous benefits when taking this approach over conventional assessments. Listen to her interview on my podcast 'Create. Share. Engage.' podcast.mahara.org/2018360/epis...

Queenstown must have the most rental car companies. I've counted 10 so far and that's not even the ones in the airport.

If there's ever a good city to have a suitcase go bust, it must be Tokyo. I've never seen so many stores that sell reasonably priced suitcases. It must be because of all the shopping tourists are expected to do to leave with at least one additional suitcase.

A piano bench 🤩 I love the Garden Museum on Mount Hiei in Kyōto because all the paintings are oversized, in frames, and mounted outside like this or on easels amidst flowers upon flowers. What an awesome way to present the impressionist art and take viewers through the garden.
