Haven’t been on here in a while! Heres some oc artwork.

The wet ground beneath his feet burdened his weight, his boots marking his path. Leaving a trail, he paid no great mind to the threat ahead of him.
He bent down beside a bush and the click of his rifle releasing from its harness rang in his ears. He shuffled himself, his knees pointing towards the dirt, he can feel the tension in his feet as they bend. With one smooth swoop, his arms and body were in position.
"That's it huh?" The walkie-talkie's hiss distorting his partner's voice.
Tomás didn't reply until he was certain.
"What should we do?" The walkie-talkie hissed again.
The figure stepped ungraciously through broken branches and bushes. Even through the scope of his rifle, Tomas couldn't see its face.
"Looks like we found the guy." Another one said through the speaker.
"Not yet, don't fire without my command."
Tomas could hear a bush shake far away from him.
He moved his scope to follow the person's trail. It was a scrawny man, extremely pale, unlike anything he's ever seen before. He seemed to be dragging an animal carcass. The low long strides of the man made it hard for him to get a smooth shot of him.
"Fire." Tomás demanded.

After a half a second, the first shot was made. Its sound ripped through the air reverberating in his ears. The next shot, and then his. The forestock under his hand vibrated, he kept his focus on the target. The wind whipped through the trees as if the earth was angry, the bullets tore at its breath.
The target was down, Tomás watched for a second longer than he typically would. It seemed like the forest was still moving.
His eyes strained at each and every detail of the dying leaves and branches on the ground, slowly guiding his view to the right, behind the target. He paid no mind to the sharp burn of the wind on his ears.
Suddenly, the cold kept up to him. Another figure appeared through his scope. His heartbeat fought to warm him, but the cold kept through his collar and infected his body.
"Target down." The hiss was much quieter now, his heartbeat louder.
The figure had a reflective nature, like a heavily armored soldier. A long black cape draped behind it, a blue scarf like wings against its back twitch in the wind. When he focused on its face, it had the eyes and mouth of a cross.
The slit of darkness that shaped the figure's eyes was looking right at him. The cross held at him like an exorcism, his breath winced like a guilty devil.
"Smoke? Are you there?" The static has softened.
It was just him and this being now. The wind, the air, the birds, his coordinates, all silent. His hands instinctively bowed, escaping the scope's claustrophobic vision. His eyes couldn't be moved from the figure. The now black blur in between the trees didn't move.
He exhaled sharply and with panic lifted his scope back up.

The figure had moved its finger in front of the crucifix face.
Tapping his pointer finger against the area of its mouth,
"shushing" itself.
"Smoke!" The trees and wind and leaves and sky all screamed at him, he sprung himself backwards. An underclass was looking at him amusingly.
"They told me not to look for you but, you weren't responding."
He looked back at the assassin and at his rifle, everything that was in rhythm is now out of place. Something in the air felt different.
He watched the breath of the assassin above him dissipate into the cold autumn breeze.
"Sorry, I need some time. You tell a superior to bring everybody back to the temple." Tomás exhaled.
"What? Why?"
"Just go, please. I need to handle this."
The assassin looked at him strangely.
"Okay." He then bowed. The sound of crunching footsteps slowly becoming quieter.
He watched the blur in the forest disappear into night's approaching arms.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
