This is how a board member responded to me when I sent the form letter and added one line of my own near the end. [Folks, this is why media training for your board is crucial. I worked for a nonprofit during a teachers' strike and the smart thing to do would have been to stay silent and block.]

#GardenSky can I plant sprouted potatoes directly into a container of potting soil like this one? Not expecting a lot because one or two of them are a little fuzzy, but I'd rather not strain my already full compost bin.

So she stopped using an editor after Queen of the Damned and that's why she took a sharp plunge downhill and detours into the self-indulgent and nonsensical. The first Mayfair Witches book was her first one without an editor.

After the publication of Queen of the Damned, I requested that my editor not give me any more comments and that she accept them as they were. I felt that I could not bring to perfection what I saw unless I did it alone, so all novels published after Queen of the Damned were written by me in this pure fashion, my editor thereafter functioning as my mentor and guardian. - paraphrased quote from Anne Rice
