@damienmcferran.bsky.social I saw in the recent Time Extension article about Obsolete Sony that you said the account is run by Sandeep Rai (me!). I don’t run the account. I am publishing the book written by OS but I am not the person behind the account.

Which PS3 "3" was best? - Uncharted 3, - Killzone 3, - Resistance 3 or - God of War 3?

Last year I started work on a book all about the history of the PSP. I wanted to have it ready to launch the Kickstarter for the PSP’s 20th anniversary but I’ve taken on a few too many projects. It is going to happen but likely mid-2025. Designed by @playsushiuk.bsky.social of course. :)

It’s awesome how they used so much PlayStation iconography in the 15! Even the PS3 keyboard attachment and Buzz controllers are there!

PSP print ads for the UK / European launch

2 Old 4 Gaming @2old4gaming.bsky.social · 01/09/2025

When the PSP launched in the UK, it was priced £180. This was considered a good price at the time given how much it could do (gaming, movies, music, internet and photos). It sold 185,000 units in three days and was (at the time) the fastest selling game system in the U.K.

The PSP was released 20 years ago today in Europe and Australia! To celebrate, I’ll be launching my next Kickstarter later today. On The Go is a 320 page hardback book all about the history of the PlayStation Portable.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children on PSP is 20 years old next month! The story wasn’t the strongest but the action and CG graphics were amazing for its time.

Shout out to the people still playing Call of Duty online on PSVita! I was on my own against two people for most of the match and did surprisingly well… which may say more about how bad they were rather than how good I am!

Got the latest RPM issue from @2old4gaming.bsky.social in, cracking stuff as usual. Noticed there's a shelf in the back half of an article (by @mysticryan.bsky.social) belonging to a certain someome ... that I miss dearly 🥲 (house moving shenanigans that's been going on for nearly 2 years ...)

A picture of an unofficial PlayStation magazine, RPM.
Next to a bookmark depicting various PlayStation consoles and a sticker of Jak + Daxter, Ratchet + Clank, and then Sly Cooper.

A page from the mag showing a picture of shelves of PS1 and 2 games, above an article describing the benefits of physical software.

14 years ago today, The 3rd Birthday launched on PSP. A continuation of Parasite Eve on PS1 (kinda). It brought back Aya Brea in a slick, fast-paced shooter with stylish Overdrive mechanics. Critics praised the combat and visuals—but the story left longtime fans divided.

The PSP released in North America 20 years ago today! Before PlayStation launched the PSP, handhelds felt like they were more for kids, but the PSP changed that. It brought console-quality gaming to your pocket, movies on UMD, and digital music on the go. Who still has theirs?
