📦🍎 Meet Andrew, a sophomore who brings both heart and hustle to every shift at our Cypress warehouse. "Every time I come here, it feels like a second family. I’m picking up confidence and leadership skills. There’s no need to be shy—we’re all here with the same mission in mind: to help others.”

This #PrideMonth, we recognize that our LGBTQ+ community continues to face real and painful barriers that make it harder to access essential resources like food. We are proud to stand with our LGBTQ+ neighbors. No one should have to choose between being themselves and getting the food they need.

Jorge’s animals love the fresh produce he picks up from our Cypress warehouse. He even takes extra care to cut up big pieces to keep his animals safe from choking. His cows show their excitement by jumping and rushing to the trough when he brings sweet potatoes and carrots! #StopFoodWaste

From farm and store donations ➡️ to quality sorting by volunteers ➡️ to distribution through 900+ sites ➡️ to local farms feeding their animals with our surplus — every step of our food rescue cycle prevents waste and helps get quality food on the table for our neighbors. #foodrescue

Urgent: We've learned that USDA funding cuts will prevent 630,000 lbs of food from reaching Second Harvest of Silicon Valley. This would've been distributed to our most vulnerable neighbors–– and was to be sourced from US farmers, who are now losing out on crucial revenue. We need your help

“Second Harvest is fun, and I look forward to every session. Volunteering here has given me far more than my service has given the community.” We're so lucky to have incredible volunteers like Jan, leading with passion, strength & selflessness. #VolunteerAppreciationMonth 💙

On #NationalBananaDay, we’re spotlighting an unseen marathon — getting bananas to clients before they go from green to overripe in the blink of an eye. We move quickly so our community can enjoy all the potassium, vitamin B6 and fiber bananas have to offer — at their peak 🍌💛

Is it a dog? Is it a horse? It’s a spud! 🥔 Did you know that potatoes are rich in both vitamin C and potassium? These benefits plus a longer shelf life make potatoes a solid staple among the produce our clients receive. Our volunteers often spot fun-shaped produce hiding among the boxes!

This spring, you can bring hope to clients like Charlie who rely on Second Harvest for food. If we can raise $1 million from our community between now and Apr 30th, The Benificus Foundation, will match every gift - doubling the impact to our clients. shfb.online/charlie

Our incredible volunteers recently took action beyond the warehouse—writing heartfelt postcards to elected officials in support of food banks across California, including Second Harvest & our partners at @cafoodbanks.org. So grateful! #VolunteerAppreciationMonth #VolunteersPlantSeedsofChange

“Over the years in operations, there were no other women. The guys would try to razz me as much as they could, but I held my own. I didn’t take no guff from nobody. I could handle it just like the rest of them.” Cathylee Brunelle, Senior Warehouse Manager #WomensHistoryMonth
