You seem to be relying on Sherman's memoir, in which he could shape the story as he saw fit after the fact 'Citizen Sherman' includes lots of excepts from the letters he wrote at the time This gives an indication about his thinking of enslaved Black Americans as he discussed with family in 1861
Excerpt from Citizen Sherman

Should the ever-delicate Ellen come South to join him as they planned, early in 1861, Ellen's Northern white servants would all quit, "and then she will have to wait on herself or buy a nigger. What will you think of that?" he goaded his antislavery activist stepbrother, Thomas Ewing, Jr. "Niggers wont work unless they are owned, and white servants are not to be found, [and] everybody owns their own servants."2 At another level the prospect of personally participating in slavery was unthinkable to him. He was not looking forward to the concrete resolution of Ellen's servant problem, whichever way it fell.

Sherman's new Louisiana career forced him to live a double life, building a new institution in the South, work- ing with the Southern leadership cadre and training their sons, while suppressing, in tandem with his hosts, dis- cussion of the basic issue of secession, which if it came to pass would make impossible his position among them. Even if proslavery, he was not a Southern planter, nor was he expected to become one as a condition of employ- ment. As he wrote to Thomas Ewing in June 1860, "Not a man has said one word about John, or anything at which I could take exception," but this delicate avoidance could not go on forever.

On Sherman's support of the South during Reconstruction Source: www.columbusstate.edu/archives/_do...
During reconstruction, Sherman was probably the leading northern advocate of the southern position on the issues of the day. He defended slavery as he always had and only reluctantly accepted its demise. He believed the South should return to the control of its traditional pre- war leaders. He totally opposed the idea of black voters, and the concept of black office holders was far beyond his comprehension. He often called himself the South's best friend, and many southerners agreed with him. He was so vocally pro-southern that, in 1872, some southern newspapers boomed him for the presidency, and the later Adjutant General of the United Confederate Veterans, George Moorman, was a regular friendly correspondent who supported the idea

Thomas had a similar experience at YLS a few years earlier, and yet... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clarenc...
Under Johnstone's supervision, Thomas completed his law school senior dissertation, a thesis on bar exams, and received honors. [71] He graduated from Yale with his Juris Doctor in 1974.72] After graduation, he sought to enter private practice as a corporate lawyer in Atlanta, Georgia. [73] Because prospective law firms assumed he was accepted because of affirmative action, he was disappointed with his experience at Yale. [74] Thomas thought the law firms "asked pointed questions, unsubtly suggesting that they doubted I was as smart as my grades indicated" [75] In his 2007 memoir, he wrote: "I peeled a fifteen-cent sticker off a package of cigars and stuck it on the frame of my law degree to remind myself of the mistake I'd made by going to Yale. I never did change my mind about its value."[76] Hill, Jones, and Farrington, the Savannah law firm where Thomas had interned the previous summer, offered him a job upon

graduation, but he declined. [77][78]

Ukraine is patiently turning a well-thought-out strategy in to wins (Compare to Trump in Iran)
The figure of 1430 personnel is shocking though that is actually not the one I am talking about (more on personnel losses below). No, the one that is even more shocking is the 483 "vehicles and fuel tanks". That is a daily record for the Ukrainians.Over the past several months, Ukraine has increased fourfold the destruction of enemy logistics, warehouses, equipment, vehicles, command posts, and supply routes at operational depth.

Data points to a clear trend: as the destruction of russian logistics increases, the number of assault operations along the line of contact decreases. If it is, the trend is exactly what the Ukrainians are planning for. It will lead to a constant degradation of the Russian army and fighting power. Supplies will be decreasing, command will be chaotic, losses will be rising and replacements arriving in inadequate numbers. The remaining troops will be in worse shape and be asked to continue attacking. Along the line it will be the Russian military that will be increasingly closer to failure.

This, at least, is what the Ukrainians are saying. Take a Russian army that has to attack and collapse it from behind. The Ukrainians are not hiding their plans- hopefully the western press will not be so slow to understand it this time.

Wiping out the AWACS is first phase of counter attack in Clancy's Debt of Honor
The United States military then proceeds to launch a

counterattack on their Japanese counterparts using whatever resources they have. In a staged accident, CIA operatives John Clark and Domingo Chavez blind two incoming Japanese E-767 pilots with a Dazzler that causes them to crash upon landing. The U.S. Air Force then proceeds to eliminate the rest of Japan's AWACS system through low-profile military attacks using widely dispersed U.S. assets, allowing B-2 bombers to destroy the hidden ICBM silos. They later use an attack by stealthy F-22 fighters to further damage Japan's air defenses. An Army special operations team is airdropped into Japan to support covertly inserted Comanche helicopters. One helicopter is used to attack another AWACS plane with air-to-air missiles while several others use Hellfire missiles to kill members of Yamata's cabal. Meanwhile, Admiral Robby Jackson liberates the Marianas with few casualties by using a combination of cruise missiles and carrier air attacks to severely damage the Japanese aircraft stationed on the islands, which forces the Japanese commander to surrender his troops.

Could add flood control too Civil engineers were heros of 19th century, showing what analysis and design could do. Eads was multi-faceted genius. I particularly like his solution to dredging the mouth of the Mississippi - have the river do the work en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_B...
Mississippi River designs

See also: Port Eads, Louisiana

The Mississippi in the 100-mile-plus stretch between the port of New Orleans, Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico frequently suffered from silting up of its outlets, stranding ships or making parts of the river unnavigable for a period of time. Eads solved the problem with a wooden jetty system that narrowed the main outlet of the river, causing the river to speed up and cut its channel deeper, allowing year-round navigation. Eads offered to build the jetties first, and charge the government later. 12] If he was successful, and the jetties caused the river to cut a channel 30 feet deep for 20 years, the government agreed to pay him $8 million. The jetty system was installed in 1876 and the channel was cleared in February 1877.[13]

Journalist Joseph Pulitzer, who had known Eads for five years, invested $20,000 in this project. [14) In 1879 the Eads design of jettys at the mouth of the Mississippi River proved to be successful. [15] A flood in 1890 brought calls for a similar system for the entire Mississippi Valley. A jetty system would prevent the floods by deepening the main channel. However, there were concerns about the ability of water moving through a jetty system to cut out the rock and clay on the river bottom. [16] The development of navigable channels at the mouth of the Mississippi River made Eads famous.

Tracks with Ginsberg's HLS experience. She still graduated top of her class from Columbia
In the fall of 1956, Ruth Bader Ginsburg enrolled at Harvard Law School, where she was one of only 9 women in a class of about 500 men. [23][24] The dean of Harvard Law, Erwin Griswold, reportedly invited all the female law students to dinner at his family home and asked the female law students, including Ginsburg, "Why are you at Harvard Law School, taking the place of a man?"lal[16][25][26] When her husband took a job in New York City, that same dean denied Ginsburg's request to complete her third year towards a Harvard law degree at Columbia Law School, [27] so Ginsburg transferred to Columbia and became the first woman to be on two major law reviews: the Harvard Law Review and Columbia Law Review. In 1959, she earned her law degree at Columbia and tied for first in her class. [15][28]

I, a grad of Quaker highschool, with a Quaker grandparent, and sometime attendeer of Q meeting for worship, was gifted a baseball hat with the Quaker Oatmeal logo on it by my Quaker roommate. Was one of my fav hats. Don't have it anymore. But yeah, a bit appropriative
The company states that its current "Quaker man" logo "does not represent an actual person. His image is that of a man dressed in Quaker garb, including a Quaker hat, chosen because the Quaker faith projected the values of honesty, integrity, purity and strength". [32]

The company has never had any ties with the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). When the company was being built up, Quaker businessmen were known for their honesty (truth is often considered a Quaker testimony). The Quaker man was the first registered trademark for breakfast cereal in the United States; the character was registered on September 4, 1877.[33]

Members of the Religious Society of Friends have occasionally expressed frustration at being confused with the Quaker Oats representation. [34][35] Friends have twice protested the Quaker name being used for advertising campaigns seen as promoting violence. In 1990, some Quakers started a letter-writing campaign after a Quaker Oats advertisement depicted Popeye as a Quaker who used violence against aliens, sharks, and Bluto. [36] Later in that decade, more letters were sparked by Power Rangers toys included in Cap'n Crunch cereal

This quote seems to capture the issue. And the lack of Trump criticism by the leaders of these centers seems to answer it
"When lawmakers point to educators and universities - K-12 and all - and blame them for not teaching this stuff, but [fix] it in a narrow way that's just meant to enforce their own ideology while closing their eyes to every abuse of civics that's happening in our society and government from the people who ought to know better, that's when I have a problem," Jani said.

Here's a hint from the OP as to which side of legal (ie 1A) free speech these bans fall on
This distorts our understanding of who poses the biggest threat to our actual, tangible freedom of
speech. Some of the people currently using or applauding official government censorship to deport students for writing op-eds, fire professors for insufficiently mournful tweets about Charlie Kirk, and restrict college curriculums by force of law were very much in favor of "free speech culture" and loud critics of "cancel culture." They spoke behind lecterns and debated through moderators and wrote op-eds, so they were not treated as a genuine threat to "free speech culture." At the same time, university students were relentlessly portrayed as the greatest threat to free speech culture. (There were, of course, welcome exceptions to this troubling trend.)
