It would be a shame if the protesters began making their signs out of quarter-inch-thick plywood to stop rubber bullets, forming a tight shield wall to prevent police from singling out and mobbing individual protesters. It would be a shame if the people behind the shield wall held up umbrellas so that tear gas canisters fired over their heads on the front line will be bounced away. It would be a shame if protesters began constructing improvised armor vests out of duct tape, hard-backed books, and ceramic tiles.

It would be a shame if protesters started wearing safety glasses, hard hats, respirators, and gardening gloves, all of which can be found at the same hardware stores as the plywood. It would be a shame if they started using traffic cones (the kind without the hole in the top), upside down buckets, or other improvised lids to contain teargas by placing them over the canisters.

It would be a shame if protesters learned that police scanners are legal to own in the US, allowing them to learn where police are moving, and what routes they intend to take. It would be a shame if they discovered that these scanners can be used to send as well as receive, allowing them to flood the scanner frequencies with noise.

All of this would be a terrible, terrible shame.

Sautéed in butter. Wanted to savor it bc it’s the first one, so I ate it all by itself. 😋 So much better than store bought. Such a huge difference in flavor & texture. My 1st time eating a homegrown bell pepper. 😭

The not so good side. I think the hole started from sun scald which led to a worm entering the pepper. 🐛 When I first spotted the hole, pepper was still green. I injected it w vinegar, then covered w mesh laundry bag. Seems it worked. Otherwise, I probably would’ve lost the entire pepper.

The good side. The plant was in a very small pot when the pepper sprouted & didn’t want to transplant till the pepper did its thing. Transplanted into garden after cutting the pepper off. Hopefully, it will grow a bunch more. 🌱🫑

Also picked some green beans. I only have 2 plants left, but had almost enough for a serving size. They were delicious! It’s been a long time since I’ve had home-grown green beans fresh out of the garden. These are heirloom, so their seeds will grow true to type. Saved some seeds already.

Picked a few pinto bean pods. Most were too green/immature, but a few were close. Hopefully, the plants will sprout a bunch more. Idk what I’m doing. Lol. Haven’t tried growing them before. These were grown from store-bought. Just trying new things. Definitely gonna plant more.

I’ve caught Kroger marking up prices on meat in the manager’s special bin. Not exactly the same thing, but similar. PThis pic is from nearly 10 yrs ago. I don’t shop there as much anymore, but when I do, I check my receipt before I leave & don’t buy from the special bin.

Google says this is a possibly a Super Sweet 100 or Better Boy tomato. I only planted hybrid Early Girl & heirloom Brandywine. It doesn’t look like any of the Brandywine I have growing, so it has to be the Early Girl. Had to move it bc it was too close to the heirlooms & don’t want them to cross.

Some of my cilantro I cut this morning. Almost waited too long. It was about to bolt. It’s going in my salsa tomorrow. Might save a sprig to see if it’ll root in water. Haven’t had much luck propagating it that way, though. Worth a try.

A volunteer in my potted aloe vera. Thought it might be gr bean but no hull around. Tried google. Got many different suggestions from mesquite tree, milkweed, pumpkin, sunflower … prolly put there by a squirrel. Guess I’ll find out what it is in a few weeks.
