I'm not sure if this is an #EhlersDanlos thing or just my dumb luck, but the broken tip of my fibula is still over 2mm from the rest of the bone with no calcification. The shape and size make pins impossible. It's been 9 weeks. Yes, I'm in #ChronicPain #eds #chronicillness

Reality as a chronically ill woman in America: every single visit turns into a fight to be heard. I was sent home from the ER with a broken ankle (fibula tip broken off) wrapped in a half-cast. Never once offered anything for pain. My husband got pain pills and lidocaine for a broken rib. 1/?

I spent the past two days at a diversity conference. This is difficult, but important work in rural communities. We were able to make connections and find new avenues of support. Then I spent the evenings fact checking all the maga puppets on local FB pages, because a girl has to have fun, too.

I have poor proprioception ( #dysautonomia ), dizziness upon standing ( #pots ) , internal organs held together with mesh and a prayer ( #ehlersdanlos), and a spastic bladder (most likely from #mcas). I also have a broken ankle and am on crutches Bathroom breaks are mini brushes with death

#Chronicpain is often life-altering. Online spaces help people find community and learn self-advocacy, but we need more My pain level was an 8 at the ER with a broken ankle. They told me to take ibuprofen when I got home. I told them it makes me sick and they shrugged. My pain was never addressed.

Third ER trip of the year in the books. #EhlersDanlos couldn't save me from a break this time. I was calm and collected with my pain at 8 thanks to #chronicpain Now I'm home waiting to see if I get a hard cast, walking cast, or surgery.

Not only that, but now I have #chronicillness and #chronicpain that requires prescriptions to make me functional. I will be bed-bound without them. #ehlersdanlos is barely covered as is. Our #rural hospitals will close without #Medicaid, so we'd have to drive 3 hours through mountains for basics.

I am alive because #Medicaid was available when I needed it most I was laid off and lost my health insurance when I discovered a lump in my breast. It was #HER2+ #breastcancer, and it was aggressive. Medicaid covered my treatments. That's why I'm here I am not alone #resist #nocloture #cancer
