Happy 40th birthday, Metroid! The OG released on Famicom Disk System ran, jumped, and spun into Japanese homes on 06/08/1986! The foundation of a genre-blending franchise that remains one of my favourite Nintendo ones to this day. 💜 Have you played the OG, peeps? Or its Zero Mission remake?

She's so Number Nine… Two years after it first aired in Japan, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex received its Adult Swim broadcast on November 7th, 2004. Not sure if it got delayed from a July slot as the ad here seems to suggest it was due for. 📖: Electronic Gaming Monthly, August 2004

Arrow Flash is a decent little shmup for the Mega Drive (and quite pretty too!). In the game's Japanese release, it has some sweet anime/manga-style cover art from Takashi Akaishizawa, who did a couple of other covers for Sega: Burning Force and Phantasy Star Adventures for Game Gear.

Fruits of an early run-out to pick up a lovely near-freebie 15" LG flat screen CRT VCR combi. Mono sound but has a biiiiig speaker on the side so it's a cut way above our other mono combis. SCART and composite, with a very nice composite image and 60hz through it too, not always a given.

I was curious when some of the earliest in-print mentions of Samus true gender might have been, when it would be been more widely known outside of those who finished Metroid within two hours and passed-along rumour. And this is one of them: Nintendo Power's October 1991 issue.
