This Labour Day is special to my partner and I because we were moved into a very nice apt. After 6years of hell, the last two of them being homeless. It was a long wait, it was complicated and getting any help or food was VERY difficult, but here we are, a homeless veteran ……. no more. 👍🏆💪

1/2 I am a homeless veteran, served in 2 branches of the military, went to college, worked for many years as a missionary serving others and got ordained as a Catholic Priest. It’s a complicated, very sad story how I became homeless, but what Astonishes me is how hard the road back IS !!

With a little help from YOU here on BluSky , I COULD have been in an apt. by now. VA doesn’t do everything, like move my stuff ! It’s been so fking hot, I passed out on the sidewalk yesterday. I woke up in an ambulance. I told them I am homeless, they replied, wow, 4th homeless guy this weekend.

A church dropped off a box of food, we really don’t know when because all the fruit, bananas, tomatoes, etc… had been left out in the 100 degree heat. It was all rotton by the time we got to it. And the cans ? None of us here eat baby food , idiots. This is how homeless vets are treated.

It has been 43 days now with no MediCal. That means : No pay for my PCA, IHSS worker No doctor care for me. $400 gone from Soc. Sec. pay to cover what would norm. cover MediCal. And so NOW I don’t have the $ to move. ALMOST not homeless veteran 😏
