A criminal court in Qom sentenced Saleh Mohammadi to death on the principle of qesas (“retribution-in-kind”) on 4 Feb 2026. The court relied on torture-tainted “confessions” to convict him of involvement in the death of a security agent on 8 Jan, which Saleh Mohammadi denies.3/6

Saleh Mohammadi was denied adequate defence & forced to make “confessions” among other due process violations in fast-tracked proceedings that bore no resemblance to a meaningful trial, revealing how Iran’s authorities resort to the death penalty to crush & deter dissent. 2/6
