This game is a great example of the folly of xG. 3-0 might feel at the most a little harsh, but in no way have we deserved anything from the game and have looked nowhere near a draw.

The players look shell-shocked. They've had no ideas and no answers today. It is very rare that I feel we've lost a game due to superior coaching and set up, but it seems like it today.

If this was 5 months ago, I'd be suggesting that the players need a break and the run-in has tired them out. Fair play to Brighton because their intensity has been really impressive.

I'm not in agreement with the idea that they were two wonder goals and we're unlucky. Good strikes, but when a player is given that much time and space to pick a shot, it vastly increases the chance of a solid, accurate shot and a goal. Brighton have been fantastic, but we can do better.

Yeah. You can feel hard done by with one. But if you choose to keep giving players acres of space just outside the box, they can pick decent shots and are far more likely to score. That was like a training drill.

That was incredibly frustrating. As soon as he picked it up, right on the edge of the box, Calafiori immediately backed off and let him shoot.

Yeah, the press from Brighton is impressive, but it appears to be coupled with an intense desire from the officials to leave persistent and professional fouls unnoticed.

Really tidy half I thought. Should be 2 up really but controlling it nicely. Eze grew into it a bit but not his best. Gyokeres had some good hold up play but little in the way of goal threat. Everyone was strong, Odegaard, Konsa and Saka were great.

Loving Konsa by the by. Going to make life really difficult when everyone is fit.

Merino has been a bit of an odd one so far. He doesn't seem to have done much wrong but I can't see that he's had much impact beyond the header.

Eze looks very ponderous, I think that should've been a yellow.

Really good performance for a lot of it. I don't like our nervous tendency of sitting deep with a 1 goal lead, but 2.11 to 0.35 xG is the story of the performances for me.

Keeping a relatively young championship winning team together is a big thing. We will be highly competitive in the league, no doubt. But to kick on to another level and to push the PSGs of this world, we need something different in attack. I'm hoping this season proves huge for Max Dowman...

That was not great, but 3 points at Villa is a great result compared to previous seasons. I thought Zubimeni, Merino and Guimaraes were all really good when they came on. Wonder why Gyokeres didn't get on, Havertz wasn't really at it. #Arsenal

Havertz is lucky to have stayed on a full 90 I think. Glimpses, but not a lot. And he's been offside for around 80 minutes it feels like.
