Sun Halo Even on a hot summer day, there can be ice in the sky. This sun halo was created by sunlight refracting through ice crystals in high-altitude clouds. Isn't it something? #BlueSkyArtShow #Minimal #Sun #Halo #Clouds #Sky #Photography
A blue sky with wispy clouds and the sun with a large circle around it. The inside of the circle appears darker than the sky around it.

The green dot is a lens flare caused by pointing the camera at the sun.

Climb Every Mountain It's always so nice to see a family enjoying a summer day, isn't it? #BlueSkyArtShow #Summer #Beach #Ocean #Climbing #Boulder #Photography
On a rocky ocean beach sits a large glacial erratic boulder, painted white. Two driftwood logs are leaned up against one side. A young girl climbs one of the logs, her dad close by with his arms up to catch her if she falls. Her mom stands nearby and her younger brother is already on top of the boulder, looking back at her with one arm stretched out.

"P'Quals", the White Rock, is over 4 metres (13 feet) high and weighs 486 tonnes (536 tons). It has been kept white by paint since the early 1900s, but before that, it was white on top due to the guano from seagulls perching on it. This made it a good landmark for First Nations and 19th century sailors, including Captain Vancouver. In the photo you can see some of the paint chipped away at the back of the rock, revealing its natural grey colour.

In the background of the photo is Canada's longest pier, which is 470 metres (1,540 feet) long.

World's Largest Tandem Axle Truck It doesn't get much bigger than that, does it? Those aren't kids posing for a photo ... those are adults. #BlueSkyArtShow #Big #Truck #Photography
A ridiculously large, green, rear dump hauler sits in the sun, defying attempts to do it justice and also get the whole thing in the picture. Some adults pose for pictures against its tires; they are about half as tall as the tires are.

The Titan 33-19 can carry 350 tonnes, and is 17 m (56 ft) high with the box raised in dumping position. Built in 1974, it is the only one of its kind, and was used in mining until it was retired in 1990.

Friendly Faces The Golden Tree in The International Friendship Garden has three women in its branches. It's a sight to see when the sunlight hits it just right in the middle of this beautiful garden. #Stunday #golden #tree #garden #park #statue #photography
The trunk of the tree is made to look more realistic, while the branches are golden and shining, with emerald-coloured leaves. The three main limbs have women's faces; one of them is facing the viewer. Her torso has bark, her arms are branches, and her hair is leaves.

There are benches and a sign nearby. The tree is a monument to farm workers, and in particular to three women who lost their lives due to an unsafe work van and dangerous driving.

Reversing Falls At low tide, as seen here, the Saint John River flows into the Bay of Fundy. Naturally, right? But at high tide, it reverses, and the river flows backwards! More info in the alt text! #BlueSkyArtShow #Flowing #River #Tide #BayofFundy #Canada #Photography
The river flows from bottom right to top left, past a rocky point of land with sparse vegetation and a few small trees. Barely connected to the land is a large, dark chunk of rock with nothing growing on it.

The rock is bare because it gets submerged when the tide comes in. The difference between low and high tide is 8.5 meters (28 feet)!

The Bay of Fundy has the highest tides in the whole world. At its highest point, the tide reaches 17 meters (56 feet); the height of a five storey building!

Itty Bitty Living Space Ever wonder what it would be like to have a room in a round lighthouse? This should give you an idea! To be fair, the lighthouse keepers did also have a proper home nearby. But I'd need a nap after all those stairs, too! #BlueSkyArtShow #Inside #Lighthouse #Photography
A round room in a lighthouse with a square post in the middle. There is a bed with a quilt, two large photos of the lighthouse, a small table, and two display cabinets on the wall filled with seashells. The lighthouse is Point Prim Lighthouse in PEI, Canada, and is unusual among brick lighthouses in Canada for being round instead of square.
