I’m probably screaming into a void at this point but please, just be bad at art. Make dogshit art, genuinely. PLEASE. Your ability to express yourself is far more important than anything you might put in the way of your lack of technical skill. Please…

there's "getting the writing bug", and then there's "staying up until 3AM writing and then resuming immediately upon waking" i haven't had this much fun with a .txt file in years

i find it difficult to get people to grasp that i like similar things for different reasons, specifically. and that those reasons matter a lot. it's hard to guide someone when "but you DO like the thing" is technically correct, and both their default assumption and preferred option

"My excitement comes not from these factors but from their proximity to each other, and the Situations and Emotions that arise from said proximity" christ. it's like i gotta draw a map to Fun Times Junction for myself and anyone involved. being aware of it is cool but i'd love to be easy to please

"No, sorry, see that IS what we like, of course! and we like it when such things happen to us. but the very NATURE of 'doing things that you like' is antithetical to the 'torment' bit, so if we act like anything but a recalcitrant jerk to your advances, our mood kinda gutters out" smooth as silk

"i'm into torment, but it has to be surreal" is a hell of a loadout to be stuck with people who're just into torment think you're kind of strange people who're just into surrealness think you're kind of cruel
