Definitely some of that, but I also found the voices unbearable. Lots of people say Jeff Hays is so good you can't even tell it's him doing all the voices but it 100% sounds like one guy doing a bunch of dumb voices to me which really added to the cringe factor. 😅

Assuming you're talking about the series I think you're talking about: I read the first two books because of a friends recommendation and they're two of the worst books I've ever read in my entire life. Reading them was physically painful. (I also tried the audiobook and hated it even more)

I actually think that scene perfectly encapsulates why I think R1 is not a good movie. That scene was useless, did nothing, accomplished nothing for the plot, and was pure fan service shiny lights.
