If you follow your favorite Bluesky stars in Feedly and opt for Posts with Links, Feedly (even the free version) will show you the full text of many or most of the articles they share with their posts. This is now my favorite way of using Bluesky, which otherwise is a pretty engagement-free place.

I've noticed that most nonalcoholic beers have various flavor additives and preservatives. Two that don't and taste really like beer, each in their own way, are Clausthaler and Asahi ZERO (the blue can). Just over 100 yen per can when ordered online. www.latimes.com/world-nation...

The labor needed for "producing an enjoyable or productive experience" is similar on all platforms. Twitter just gives you a lot more to work with than Bluesky. And you don't need to rely on the Twitter algorithm at all, thanks to curated lists. There are even free Tweetdeck replacements now.

In our neighborhood, it's more likely to be "Name of pet" + ママ. (We once had a neighbor whose grandkids called her リーマ. When I asked her about it, she explained that she used to have a cat named リリ. )

Yes, they come right after you. My son is deathly afraid of them, but I go into his room with a couple of tissues, patiently seek out the prey, and add them to my dead roach collection. My son has immense respect for me as a result of this bravery.

I think it's probably not that hard. Btw, Nauru was assigned .nu as its Internet suffix, but that makes little sense with the new name. (I once had an .nu domain, using it for my website, and had washiwashi.nu as an email address, which raised some eyebrows among my jp Usenet brethren especially.)

Would be amazed that I had managed to escape from Grand Rapids, MI and Calvinism, move to San Francisco and then to Tokyo, and eventually become a Japanese citizen. Not to mention reaching the age of 83 without illness or pain, and being happily married for 43 years. 20 y/o me'd be blown right away.

Contrary to earlier reports, it now appears Tropical Storm Dujuan could reach typhoon strength. Its movement is slower than forecast and the peak force in the Tokyo area will be felt on Monday, with winds picking up in late afternoon. Rain, often heavy, will continue all day Sunday and Monday.

In my part of Tokyo (Musashino-shi), around half of the cyclists are now bravely using roads, even though the space allotted to them is narrow and often occupied by stopped vehicles. Vehicles are supposed to keep their distance from the cyclists and to slow down when passing, but few observe this.

I understand that; my own daughter feels that way when she hauls her kids around Nishi Tokyo-shi. But many riders choose bicycles more for convenience than real necessity (see how I avoided using the word "lazy"?), and they really need to respect the rights of pedestrians on sidewalks in any case.

I will tolerate a certain amount of bicycling on sidewalks when other options are lacking, but bicyclists need to be made more aware that sidewalks are for pedestrians primarily, and need to slow the heck down when they are riding near us, or even dismount when there are large numbers of us.

The rules have changed, so that riding on sidewalks is now discouraged. It is also super annoying to us pedestrians. Tokyo really needs dedicated and protected bike lanes. If it comes at the expense of cars, so be it.
