Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 13hWhere I live, not as remote as your countryside, we have no phone signal, so use Wifi calling usually, but the red phone box is still functioning as a phone, so that helps when we have a power cut. Doesn't help the disabled lady with the electric hospital bed though. 010
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Yep. When they STILL can't put things away in the right places, close doors, turn off lights, remember your birthday, realise fairies do not do the grocery shopping, cook the meals, wash and iron, do the gardening, etc etc etc. 000
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 29/09/2026This is going to be a hilarious comedy film in a few years. 010
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Hee hee hee, He thinks it is Fair Fort!! Like he wants a big Ark. 010
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 29/09/2026If obtained illegally, by insider dealing, bribing etc, then of course. 000
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 28/09/2026The point is, the USAF has been based there in the past and now in the present. It was not a secret, the planes flying over are visible you know and can be heard. 100
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 27/09/2026By the way when living nearby, you know who is staying there. Do we even have any B52s? 110
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Do you change the name of your house when you have visitors to stay? When it is YOUR house? 000
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Fairford has been a base several times for the USAF since WW2 It was when I arrived in the area in 1984 and remained so until the 1990s. Then again, the Gulf war brought back the large bombers and back they are now. No fiction involved. 140
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 14/09/2026I expect Elon is worried about what AI knows about him. 000
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 12/09/2026I'm all for a cleaner lifestyle, but are you really sure no corruption is present in the electric vehicle market? 101
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 08/09/2026I suppose they will be able to import the raw materials from other countries without any tariffs and then export without as well. 000
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 08/09/2026I continued to get CDs of anything I really liked. I transferred a lot of cassettes to CD. There was one particular recording I liked though where the cassette had perished. It was of a particularly lovely "Requiem" sung by a friend's school. I was able to find in on vinyl. Then transfer to CD. 020
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 06/09/2026Old men attacking a teenager. Those old men would probably have been the youths who made my teenage life a worry back in the 60s. 010
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 05/09/2026You got that completely wrong. I am making a joke that the "patriots" are dressing up in Burkha like boys costumes that they normally rail about. 000
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 05/09/2026I feel akin to the BBC. I get called left wing by rightists and right wing by lefties. 110
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 05/09/2026Burkha clad protestors block UK people leaving on holiday. 100
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 04/09/2026They said my neighbour should have gone to hospital. How can she phone anyone to arrange it? It was a real pain when they disconnected the copper to the land line. 000
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 04/09/2026That is very handy to know. The last power cut we had, they tried phoning the people on the vulnerable list. No signal. My neighbour could not phone anyone and her hospital bed did not allow her to get up for comfort reasons. Luckily I called in to check on her. 100
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Neither can I in the Cotswolds UK. The topography is wrong. We can use WiFi calling though. It's a fiddle switching it over every time we go out. What is worse is no signal in power cuts. With the copper connection our land line worked, but now, it doesn't. Disabled neighbour totally stymied. 100
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Sometimes you can only afford outdated. My first car was a 1939 model I had been given. My new hubby and I got it running and then drove to Australia (for the pedants, shipped the wet bits). We drove it there, got a 50s Morris minor, then a VW Beetle which we drove across Australia. 010
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 03/09/2026Thank you for your concern, but I may have made it sound worse than it is! 010
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 03/09/2026It could have been black mould as well. Something I struggle with now in my old house! 110
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 03/09/2026Word do change in meaning, but at the moment, "Off grid" is still the foremost term for people living without connection to the main energy network. 000
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 03/09/2026My definition is the more widely accepted. As is the Lake of Ontario. 100
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 03/09/2026You are totally illogical. You say the term was CREATED to refer to not being part of societal grid. That means it did not exist before. But you then suggest that my definition is out of date, thus accepting my etymology preceded yours. It's obvious what the OP means. 100
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 03/09/2026PS, since you believe in a fluidity of meaning in language you can no longer produce a valid argument for anyone. 100
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 03/09/2026In that case you should have no argument that the original poster was using it to describe his lifestyle while at the same time engaging in AI. I rest my case. Goodbye! 100
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 03/09/2026That's an interesting way to wriggle out of it. Do you use it in all your arguments? What was it that woman said in the Johnny Depp court case? "I use 'pledge' and 'donate' synonymously" Are you a sales person by any chance? 000
Lilybravo @0riens.bsky.social · 03/09/2026You are a bit of a Humpty Dumpty then? A bit like your president with his cavalier use of language and concepts of government? 100
