What's more, these measures really only work on *desktop* browsers, because mobile browsers are apps, and are severely limited by law and mobile operating systems, making it hard-to-impossible to customize them so that they'll respect your rights. 20/

This is true of all mobile browsers, but it goes triple for iOS (iPhones and iPads): pluralistic.net/2022/12/13/k... Finally, this mostly only works on *Firefox*, and it works *worst* on Chrome, Google's monopolistic browser. 21/

I'm using reader mode on my android's Firefox and it works pretty well (uBlock origin too). On my mum's android I've installed DuckDuckGo as her default browser because it comes with built-in privacy& anti-popup features that don't require installing extensions (easier for me to maintain from afar)

Browsers are the last line of defence. The *first* line (even before your firewall!) is DNS. There are free DNS services that can block a lot of guff (almost) at source. Configure one on your home router to protect all your devices. Caveat: Use in conjunction with, not instead of...

Just want to remark here that ublock origin (for Firefox) has an option to disable cookie dialogues which works on both mobile and desktop. Click the three dots menu>ublock>control panel>filter lists>scroll down and check the boxes next to cookie notices.
