Layer8 @layer8problem.bsky.social · 10/07/2026The ability to shift through vast quantities of information on people autonomously and continually is scary. Governments are cracking down on online anonymity and I don't see this as a coincidence. This is a serious threat to liberty. AI can't do your job but it can monitor what you do. 020

Tim Knittel • Bourbon Educator & Events @tim-knittel.com · 16/04/2026Please define intelligence in a way that includes humans, excludes current-gen AI, explains the Chinese room operating successfully, and lets Mary have a difference between knowing about red and seeing it. 110
Drunken Father Figure of Old @masterfulidiot.bsky.social · 10/07/2026Great thread! Don’t have anything intelligent to add, but it’s very helpful to read you articulate precisely what I experience as vague unease and frustration! 020
Ukemike @ukemike.bsky.social · 10/07/2026LLMs are really good at 2 things, translation and finding patterns in huge data sets. So the only realistic uses for LLMs are translation, coding (a kind of translation), science with huge data sets like genetics and astrophysics, and mass surveillance. 010
