I swear having ND pattern recognition is a curse in book fandom communities. People will propose the dumbest, most nonsensical fan theories but scoff at something that seems extremely obvious to you bc your brain automatically does gestalt thinking & nothing you say can convince them otherwise

Like a huge chunk of them are doing conspiracy theory brain pattern recognition: "this thing is vaguely similar to this unrelated thing, so its actuALLY CONNECTED" And you know its not. You see what the actual pattern is. But they don't. So you can go fuck yourself.

I had this problem when "Supernatural" was on the air. They just premiered the first episode that had Chuck in it, the prophetic writer making books about Sam and Dean's life. When I accurately gave my theory about his true identity, I was blasted harshly. But we eventually proven right.
