I hadn't noticed this section of a BBC article on Hinkley Point C from December 2023. The quoted analyst makes the same calculations I previously have and comes to the same answer – the EPR nuclear reactors being built at Hinkley Point and proposed for Sizewell are ruinously expensive

I noticed other day that defenders of nuclear power in media focus on unpredictability of renewables without mentioning the plummeting price of battery storage. I have no doubt that the successor to Ofgen will ensure nuclear profits through regulatory framework.... 🙄🙄

Well done for highlighting this, it’s been an appalling deal from the start. The security implications of Chinese involvement appeared to be brushed under the carpet when Huawei got the UK ban in 2020 as well….
