The US patent for this design was granted in 1930, but it was never commercialized.
The design was less energy efficient than pump-based systems & safer chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) coolants would obviate the /need/ for the Einstein-Szilárd design in the 1930's.
But the idea had merit!
