The big reason why my Steam Deck OLED is the best gaming device I've ever owned is the combo of emulation and it also being a PC. I'm typing this on a docked SD right now. It emulates PS1-4, 360, Wii, Switch, and everything older, no sweat. And supports every controller.

It's an emulator as well?! I have a whole library of PS2 games and a very old PS2 Slim, so being able to continue playing my faves is important to me. Though I also know nothing about emulation...

An emulator is a software version of a piece of hardware. A rom/iso is a digital copy of a piece of software, whether it's a game cartridge, disc image, or package. Load a rom into an emulator and you can play whatever console on whatever device. E.g. Super Mario SNES on a Sony PSP.
