This kind of take made a Rolling Stone writer so mad they wrote a whole piece about it.

At this point, though, if someone contends they've never even heard of
"Choosin' Texas" or Langley, it may say more about the listener than the song.
Or, for that matter, what they want to project to the world. With incessant news coverage alongside chart and playlist presence, it's pretty difficult to still claim total ignorance on this one.
Perhaps there is a deeper reason why people say they haven't heard the song and feel the need to make it known: cultural cachet.

Until this week I had never heard of “Choosin’ Texas,” which I guess is now the most popular song in music history. That’s on me I suppose.

I listen to nothing but audio books and a Spotify playlist of mostly 80s and 90s music. I never listen to the radio. I bought a new vehicle in June & my wife was dragging me because I still haven’t set radio presets.
