Davren is a *sun* elf. He's spending the day pouting and complaining because his vampirism keeps him indoors, out of the sun. He loves hot sunny weather.
Ithilen, however, is half moon elf. If he doesn't have to be out, he's not. He'll rest in the shade all day, and go out after sunset.
