Trump just used the State of the Union to attack trans people. Trans people = 1% of the population. "Transgender issues" ranked LAST out of 20+ voter priorities. 75% of Americans support anti-discrimination protections. Oh, and TRANS RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS. 🏳️‍⚧️

As a career public defender, the facts on this really matter. Trump invoked Iryna Zarutska—a Ukrainian refugee murdered on a Charlotte train—to attack immigrants. The suspect is a U.S. citizen with mental health issues who was passed by transit security that night.

The real failures were mental health gaps and transit security—not immigration. He used a refugee's murder to demonize refugees. That's the cruelty.
