From the Q&A which One Bean Culture had with Wu Zhe while bringing us the uncensored physical for Wildhood Friends

Question & Answer dated 2024/11/23. The question is: "I have a question for Wu Zhe. Did you decide that Xia Fei and Zhang Qingkai will have a BE right from the planning stage? Based on the story, although there was not much about the side couple, they had a undeniable effect on pushing the main couple's relationship development further - whether on Yijie'r's sexual awakening or their mom's approval in the later part of the novel. Hence my curiosity about your thought process on creating this pair. After all, this pair is the one pair many readers could never get over, and they're also among the rare few pairs in your novels which have a BE."

The answer is: "My stories have always ended with HEs. Even if the journey to get there is difficult, they will receive a wonderful ending. So, Xia Fei and Zhang Qingkai are also a pair I myself can't get over. Even until now, I tear up when I revisit them.

To be honest, my thought process in creating them wasn't too complicated. It felt like they just appeared in my mind naturally. After all, the story happened in that time period, where there were many who couldn't achieve the love they longed for no matter their efforts. In a way, they provided a much-needed guidance for Fu Kun and Yijie'r when it came to their purest affections for each other - and that was also the courage that they both needed, so they were much more like angels who helped them break free from the shackles of society."
