haaaaaa I have none of these quals and don't do any proofing/editing work for less than $50/hour, and I stay plenty busy.

If you're a Hugo or Nebula award finalist, or any other accolade element in that requirements list, there's no way in this universe that you're going to work for $40.00 an hour. Heck, I was working for that rate as a contractor more than a decade ago. Have fun filling this posting, guys.

The job posting was most definitely written with AI, using a prompt that emphasized "elite-level" and "award-winning" writing. What a joke.

Picturing the Venn diagram of 'authors who have had this kind of success' and 'authors who don't hate AI' and 'authors who are willing to work for Elon for $40/hour' not gonna happen

Yeah, I get a lot of solicitations for the same type of thing for coding. It’s like “Sure, totally, I’ll gladly assist precipitating my own perceived obsolescence for a pittance!”

Apart from everything else, I had to look up Clarkesworld to find out what it was. The New Yorker it ain't. And I do know what the Hugo and Nebula awards are, but the Pulitzer and Booker prizes they ain't. He explicitly wants SF writers.

I wonder how AI will cut out entry-level jobs and kill so many businesses bc they've actively decided to remove their juniors pool. Or it becomes financially infeasible to even have one bc companies will run even thinner costings to maximise shareholdings/Exec wages. GRIM.

I'm pretty sure I've seen listings like this for people to do maths and programming tasks at way below market value, in order to feed AI training data. I'm sure they were looking for other fields of expertise as well, but they only contacted me about the maths and computer stuff.

okay, but you have to admit it'd be funny as shit if you, specifically, applied

a small aside that this fully feels like a listing written by someone incapable of recognizing/discerning good writing without it having multiple institutional approvals attached.

There are a number of bestselling authors in those Epstein emails. Maybe one of them will strike a deal with the world’s leading producer of CSAM.

I got this one on LinkedIn, and believe me, as a professional writer/journalist I just *love* being called a "writing specialist"

Too bad Beatrice Sparks is dead. She's the only writer I can think of who would both meet the qualifications and want the job.

Wait... they're hiring an actual human to rewrite what the AI rewrites from actual human writers?
