Okay so quick PSA. It occurs to me that a lot of trans folks follow me and actually look to me for advice and inspiration (which I think is wild cuz I'm just a nerd) - and I talk a LOT about being confident and being willing to fight back. I need to urge you to take the UTMOST care if you try.

I grew up in a little Canadian country town that was basically the wild west in a pine forest instead of a desert. Throwing and taking punches is something I literally grew up doing. One of my earliest childhood memories was getting beaten up in kindergarten by a group of boys twice my size.

I stand by the statement that every trans person needs to know how to protect themselves and be willing to do so, even at the risk of injury or legal consequences. BUT. Don't make the mistake of romanticizing it. There's no *winner* in a fist fight, okay? There's no Good outcome to fisticuffs.
