After your shift, she takes you for coffee, and she talks to you like you're a person - not like a broken piece of military tech. She doesn't ask you about your experiences or why you're panicking - she just talks to you about her art. She's a painter. She loves oil painting. It makes you smile.

After that there are more dates. More coffees. More time spent looking at her art. Less time spent talking about your past. And every now and then you feel your smile reaching your eyes. It almost feels too good to be true. You spend less and less time thinking about what came before.

Then, like all storybook romances go, she pops the question. Takes you out on a big, fancy date, dresses both of you up properly, then gets on one knee and asks you to marry her. You don't really have any choice but to say yes - like a lifeline, you grab onto that love like it's all that matters.
