We're hosting both kids' birthday parties this weekend. I let them choose what kind of cakes to make for them. And they both made *very* ambitious picks--"a colossal squid attacking a pirate ship" for the 8-year-old and "mushrooms on a forest log" for the 11-year-old. But I think I pulled it off!
