Spending on newbuild was also up in 2024 - though increased costs of construction and borrowing mean that despite this increase, the number of new homes built increased only 3%

It is perhaps, a horrifying indicator of how badly repairs and maintenance were cut and neglected for a period. There is a lot of work to do..
