Wieland Heim @wielandheim.bsky.social · 03/07/2026Back from fieldwork in Kazakhstan: in cooperation with the Institute of Zoology in Almaty & @vogelwarte.bsky.social we tagged songbirds with geolocators to uncover their unknown #birdmigration Main target species: Himalayan Rubythroat 😍 1476
Wieland Heim @wielandheim.bsky.social · 03/07/2026We organized this tracking project together with Bekzhan Berdikulov & @pauldufour80.bsky.social - and thanks to a small conservation grant of OSME (osme.org) we could include young Kazakh ornithologist Aizhan Tashimova into the team to teach her how to tag birds 184
Wieland Heim @wielandheim.bsky.social · 03/07/2026Another study species is the Black-throated Accentor - very much looking forward to find out where these birds spend the winter, when their breeding habitat in the Tien Shan mountains is covered under deep snow! 0112
